What is the purpose of users playing Diablo 3?

Why are you playing “Bounties”?

To have a better item?
To have a better option?

Blizzard showed in patch 2.6.8 that “anytime the specs / options of items the user already has can be retrospectively nerfed”. In the name of a balance patch.

If so, even if you’re working hard now and trying hard to “Bounties” and own your favorite items, it can be modified anytime by Blizzard.

For example, at any time in the future, it could be like this.

  1. Convention of Elements:
While not taking damage, Gain 200% increased damage to a single element for 4 seconds. This effect rotates through the elements available to your class in the following order …

  2. Mask of Jeram:
While not taking damage and moving, Pets deal 200% increased damage

  3. Ring of Emptiness:
While not taking damage and moving, You deal 300% increased damage to enemies affected by either your Haunt or Locust Swarm.

  4. Gazing Demise:
While not taking damage and moving, Spirit Barrage gains the Phantasm rune. Each active Phantasm lasts twice as long, increases the damage of Spirit Barrage by 150%, and also increases the attack rate from Manitou spectres.

  5. The Furnace:
While not taking damage, Increases damage against elites by 50%

  6. Yang’s Recurve:
While not taking damage, Multishot attacks 50% faster and its damage is increased by 200%

It is all assumed that which item will change and how. But we don’t know when and how these things will change. It’s a Blizzard mind.

Blizzard has already done so in Patch 2.6.8, and Blizzard can do it again at any time. In the name of a balance patch.

Is there a reason why you should try hard “Bounties”?
Is there any reason to go further and farm the item itself?

Furthermore, what is the purpose of users playing Diablo 3?

For myself, I like finding upgrades and the excitement that brings and the feeling of progression from being able to do higher GR. Sure, Blizz could nerf any item at any time but that doesn’t change how the game is played at all. We’d still be doing Bounties, Rifts, and GRs. Yeah, it’d be disappointing if a build suddenly lost in power or was even unplayable altogether. But it’d still be fun to try out another build and farm pieces for that.

I guess it’s all in perspective. Like you can look at it as “all my hard work was undone” or you can look at it as “I enjoyed this for what it was during the time I was able to use it”. But then, I’m a long time gamer including CCGs so I’m used to things like nerfs and bannings. It’s unfortunate when it happens in the middle of a competitive season but it’s ultimately unavoidable if we want there to be some amount of game balance also.

Users who play Diablo 3 are almost as old gamers as you.

A decent posture.
It is desirable.

I hope you have a good option item today.
(I don’t know if the item will change tomorrow morning.)

Furthermore, what is the purpose of this thread? Either play the game to have fun, or don’t. It’s not rocket surgery or brain science.

For fun obviously. I don’t see what other reasons why do people playing games.

Temperary Enteratinment. Something to pass the time when your bored. There’s plenty of other reasons. Some people like to escape the real world and jump into a fantasy, could be a book or a game.

I play to push builds I like. I use certain abilities that sometimes line up with sets and sometimes do not. With that I play until I feel satisfied or get bored whichever comes first.

Like all games it’s about the moment and having fun. Once I stop having fun I stop playing a game. Best part of seasonal content is there is always something a bit different to check out. Sometimes it’s good other times not.

Unlike many, I have no problems dropping a game if I’m not having fun, even if it’s one I spent 1000s of hours playing for multiple years. So it isn’t an issue if I’m not in love with a new patch. I can come back next time. I have plenty of other games and things to occupy my time with.

The real question is why are you playing except to find something to complain about

Okay.

You can eat what tastes good, and discard what is not good.
Maybe digestion is good.

This looks tasteless, so you can just throw it away.

What I was expecting about the us forum was crap.
Now I realize.

Good job guys.

What exactly were you hoping for? That people would rally behind you to bash the game?

Yeah, it sucks when a build you like gets nerfed, but that’s the risk of playing online games that get updated. I can’t say that I like how they handled killing macro wizards since a lot of builds got hit too, but that’s why I like to rotate between classes so I have plenty of builds that I like to play.

sorry op but all your possible item changes involve an effect of not taking damage. blizzard already has an item with that effect; squirts necklace. i doubt they’d ever make a change as you suggest here. Bounties for life!

I wouldn’t sweat it. If you really look at the notes over the past few seasons very little has changed.

You are in the Diablo 3 general forum and asking a dumb question.

Like this:

Dude walks down the bleachers to the ground at a football game and over to the cheerleaders and asks them:
“What is the purpose of doing that (points to girls doing back flips etc.)”
The head cheerleader then kicks you in the ‘you know what’!.

Dude, your post is just plain dumb.

Have you noticed a lot of people slot into comfort zones? This is pretty much an occurrence in most fields and walks of life. Also with games. For example, some people might get together and play cards: e.g. 500, or Solitaire, or Bridge or Euchre, or Solo - but each may not like the other. Same with Witcher 3, Diablo III so on and so forth.
Some may like all or only some.

People play where they feel a degree of comfort.
With that perhaps comes a level of complacency in acceptance where we shrug when Blizzard decides to kill off something? I do not have that answer.
I do not believe any company deliberately goes out to sabotage the game they made.
I am sure there are also some people who have a weird comfort zone who will never be happy unless they had something to complain about, even if the game had no flaws, I am sure even then, someone will try and find one.

I only play seasons, so Blizz changing items stats or whatever is the least of my concern.

What’s the purpose of life if you just die at the end? It’s to have fun with the experiences you go through.

I play because I have fun. It’s that simple

People who play Diablo 3 want to have better items in the game, want to go to a higher level, and want to set a higher record. And we will have satisfaction. Regardless of the character’s class, these are in common.

There is an “Item” at the starting point.

So when we have a good item, the joy, satisfaction and fulfillment are also reasons to play Diablo 3. Also to do that, we repeat “Bounties” and repeat “Item Farming”.

However, if these items can be modified by Blizzard at any time, it is a problem.

Suddenly, the criteria for a good item change, or the criteria become unclear and the motivation falls. In addition, all efforts and time invested to have the item will become useless, leaving a sense of loss and collapse. It’s like breaking the basics.

The content and gist of the article is that it is not desirable for this to happen. That way, the basic purpose of playing Diablo 3 (to have a good item) can be maintained.

If Blizzard needs to modify something, Blizzard needs to modify something other than an item.

Should I explain this one by one?
It is stuffy.

Have fun.

I usually just get my fix for the new season which lasts about a week or 2 but this time I’m trying to push leader boards with a friend and we’re in the 100s so we’re gonna keep trying

sounds like another ‘waaaaahhhh you nerfed bazooka wiz’ thread to me.

Just like real life? I am planning to go vacation in this month and now my country issues a lockdown due to coronavirus and now I stuck at home.

Also, I am pretty sure most of the Diablo fans, or rather, online gamers are pretty accepted that things will get changed and nothing is certain. Just like Moba game where your favorite hero will get nerfed to oblivion for over performing and force you to adapt to the changes or just play other heroes.
