What is the future of D3?

We have D2R which I found a great break from D3 every now and then. D3 is a totally different beast but what is it’s future?

Is there going to be any team working on future seasons? Or is everything focussed on D4?

I can’t remember seeing anything from the developers on this.

They haven’t said but I wouldn’t expect much out of it. They want everybody playing Diablo 4 now.

Kind of like how Diablo 2 went over a decade without any real update until the remaster came along, the inevitable Diablo 3 Resurrected is the best bet for some kind of future for the game that isn’t “playing the same game with no updates for the next 10+ years”.

The future of D3 is patchs and seasons

The future of D3 will be like much of the past of D3.

Maintenance mode. Barebones Season patches and that’s about it.

Maybe D3R at some point.

Well, as we can see currently how long it’s taking them to address the DH exploit, It’s a pretty good indication that D3 is pretty much dead to them and will go down in the way of D2. It will probably be taken over by bots and hacks.

I would guess that we’ll have 1-2 seasons/year considering that the time between seasons has been gradually increasing and s27 lasted for 177 days. Actually, 2/year feels like a best case scenario. I wish they would comment on the issue.

Most likely it will recycle the existing seasonal theme and rewards once the D4 was released.

I hope not, double goblins (irrelevant), double bounties (almost every season we get double bounties sooner or later), free RoRG (meh, one extra ring), free LoN (since we now have LoD), follower update (part of the game) and echoing nightmares (part of the game) are rather underwhelming.

D3 with Season 28 is death right now. Only maniacs who play 16+h play for 10K para in the future to have 10-15k para in no season and dominate Leaderboard later. The legit and casual player can leave D3 now and wait for D4.
They destroy D3 by Season 28…
Personally, a few days ago I stopped playing D3 (7200 para none season) because the game has no sense.
What can help is only resetting the paragon level by flattening more Paragon Curve Experience to make smaller differences between low para and high para players.
if Blizzard will do nothing the DEATH of D3 will be at the end of this year.

I bet against it. 20 characters

My guess is we’ll be left with the current season theme going forward.

Really a fantastic way to leap forward into D4.

I could be wrong of course, but we’ll see.

I imagine it will limp along, not played as much, but still there for players who feel a need to speed rush some GR’s as a break from the slower pace of D4.

weird question he all know the future of d3 is d4 , because looking how d4 play is the same of d3 , sure with a few more feature and a bit more deep . d4 is d3 with a fresh coat of paint

this is all diablo team are able to do is some diablo 3 style game , the prove d2re turn too d3 , diablo immortal is a other type of d3 , and d3 is d3 , and d4 is base on d3 , no worry mate is all d3 , you will not be lost or confuse

Patches, sesons, updates.

I repeat again: season 28 is Nail Death for Diablo 3.
There is no sense at all to play now D3.

The altar will be permanent. If you have staves of herding in your stash already you are golden. I predict 2 seasons per year. In 2025 there will be a remaster.

Annacakelive posted her youtube video with her recent live visit with Rod and Joe, and the question of D3 was answered. There will be a small scale update for Season 29, then Season 30 and beyond will recycle prior season themes. Nothing mentioned on the plans with D2R though, but I suspect mainly bug patches with a slow drip of new runewords, with the last batch being the new permanent Ladder Only ones.

D1, D2 and D3 will be remade in D4. All the previous games will be shut down.

Are you on the D2 forums asking them why they are playing a dead game and why they are playing a game there is no sense in playing

And what exactly is wrong with playing a game you like playing?
