I was looking at some player builds and I notice that some people do not use the followers. Is it because they run in groups and do not need a followers, or is it because they just do not care about the followers? What is the benefit for a solo player to not use a follower? After the follower revamp why would a solo player not use them?
Maybe some don’t want to use them untill they geard them fully.
One benefit is for when you’re pushing, it’s easier to make monsters follow. Monsters alot of the time will aggro and cling to your follower, you’re then forced to move 1-2 screens away to force your follower to teleport. Without a follower it’s alot easier to gather big groups and pulls for more areadmg.
The only time where I don’t use them in solo is in set dungeons cause sometimes they can screw up a combo or a difficult objective. This season also, I play with my brother and for the first time in 10+ seasons I am not solo, so I never bothered with them. That’s why you can also see my barb wearing nemesis bracers and flavor of time.
I mean, followers in this game are not really necessary in any way unless you are really dedicated to solo pushing GR. D3 followers, even after the revamp, are still largely worthless for most players. That’s probably why.
More Deaths Breaths, more GRift Keys, more CDR and some dmg from Enchantress, Even more dmg from Scoundrel, heals from Templar, all 3 provide cheat deaths. As well as a variety of builds they can offer you. No, they’re not gonna be substantial for providing and dealing dmg, why would they…? But they do provide a good use as utility.
Much like Z/Support builds in 4man, followers do this for solo…Just mostly in a different way.
Yep…all nice to haves, but no necessities except for solo pushing GR. Along with most people playing in groups rather than solo, means followers are just…basically useless. Is why I imagine most people don’t really care to do much with them outside of “hey I was gonna salvage this piece of gear but may as well put it on my merc”
There are people that only play in groups or almost always do.
They don’t use followers.
It’s as simple as that.
Are you running solo content without your Followers? Honestly, even if you answered that you do, I wouldnt believe you…Cause whats the point in doing that? Followers are there to provide utility for solo play and that’s exactly what they do.
I’m not saying you’re missing out on anything super special with the follower update, cause truly you aren’t. But regardless, who doesn’t like getting more DB’s and Keys from NRifts, and having a lil more dmg/cdr/healing/cheat deaths in both NRifts and GRifts…
In all seriousness…Most people aren’t, and haven’t, actively looked for different ways to build followers. It’s tedious as hell, and most people don’t want to collect a bunch of different items hoarded up in their stash taking space. Along with not being able to save follower builds (armory) makes it all even more tedious. On top of all that trying to test items to see if they actually work or not cause from what I’ve seen and tried searching for, there isn’t a list compiled to see what does or doesn’t.
What’s so simple about it? You’re trying to say that people that “almost always do” run in groups don’t use followers…I mean, atleast, that’s how you worded it. Of course people aren’t running followers while they’re grouped. Unless they’re running Ashearas ZDH which is basically a waste of time, it isn’t any more effective than a regular ZDH for the most part.
You need to be patch.
And from the start of D3, followers aren’t useless.
So, my answer to the OP:
Like Yukos, the dungeons.
Follower can affect the difficulty of some dungeons if they wear “this item” or “this item” or…
So, Kormac, stay in town, I’ll be back.
LOL, it’s simply explained.
Only play in groups…never use a follower.
Play in groups is a weakness
- “Wow, I did a 140!”
5mins later - I don’t understand why I die in GR80
I see few benefits to running solo without a follower except in Set Dungeons.
The Players you see likely run only in groups.
They may have used and dismissed follower after completing solo quests.
Sometimes I can to forget to hire the follower when starts leveling of second character.
Do some thorns builds dont want followers perhaps?
It’s easy when you think about it; Followers take away aggro from the main character, causing monsters to perform unexpected turns and go random directions. With some spell attacks having a wind up, require precision or at a significant cooldown, some builds just don’t take the risk and use themselves as bait to blast the mobs in large chunks.
You can do a thorns build for your follower to. The templar is pretty awsome whit it.
