What happens to seasonal characters once season is over?

Hey everyone!

So Season 20 is my first season playing Diablo 3 reaper of souls. I am loving every minute of it, but I was wondering what happens to my seasonal heroes once the season is over? What happens to my gold, crafting materials, and blood shards? My current items and armor set that I have equipped? My paragon levels? Are my non-seasonal heroes affected in any way in terms of paragon levels? Will my merchants be the same levels and will they have the same recipes learned?

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked. If it makes it any easier to post a link to the thread that answers this question, that would be great.

Thanks,
Dan

It’s converted to regular. Paragon points are transferred too, but not 1:1 just amount of exp is added to your NS characters.
Loot collected can be picked for 30 days since season end.

everything gets added to your normal account
your heroes convert to normal and they keep all there items incl those in inv
all mats are transfered to normal
your bloodshards are transfered to your normal account even if that would take you over the limit, if that happens you just cant pick up new bs untill you spend some
you keep the highest lvl for all artisans (blacksmith, jeweler and mystic) you keep all your recipes
all items in your chest are mailed to your normal account and you have 30 days after first log inn to collect them
you keep all paragon but NOT levels only total xp so if your normal account is p1000 and your seasonal is also p1000 you will end up with something like p1550

All equipped gear and gear in your character inventory (non-stash) stays with your character. The rest of your gear is gotten by the mail option in the lower left, just like claiming Haedrig’s gift. All season themes end when season ends, so this season, your Kanai’s Cube will go back to normal and double goblins will end (unless Blizzard decides to keep it).

So, I have 7 stash tabs full of gear; will all that loot be transferred by mail? Yes, I’m a hoarder!

Yes. Make sure you claim it within 30 days or it will be deleted.

Tip: To avoid hassling with my in-game mail, on the day the Season is going to end, I salvage everything I don’t want to keep. Then, I load up my Character’s Inventory with all they can carry. If I have to, I’ll create temporary “mules” and load them up as well. I leave NOTHING IN MY STASH.

Then, when the Season ends I have no mail to claim. Nothing to be deleted. And all the loot I want to keep is already in my Inventory and ready to be placed in my non-Season Stash.

If you’re going to Rebirth a Character for the next Season, stash all their gear, including the equipped Potion. And don’t forget your Followers’ gear. (The Character you want to Rebirth should be “naked” before the new Season begins. If not, their gear will be mailed to your non-Season Characters and “you’ve got mail”… again).

The last time they published a blog explaining what happens at the end of a season rollover was for season 14, but the information is still relevant as the process remains the same…

Thank you everybody here for the responses! I really appreciate it! Great community here

I’m playing co-op with a family member in Season 22 and my Primal chest piece dropped and sure enough the game gave it to them. Is there any way to get that item placed on my character? If the season ends, can it be traded to me? I don’t suppose that should even matter, since the season ending it won’t help any. Why does blizzard not have rolls on loot? This is terrible. I’ve spent 72 hours, game time, tying to get primal set piece for my Barbarian. He logs on to have fun with me and boom, blizzard gives it to him. Beyond words angry and disappointed in this game now. Sorry to everyone here for this post, but I have to inquire if there’s a way to help my situation. Thanks for your understanding.

No it doesn’t. Every player gets his own loot. The only way for another player to get your loot is for you to either trade, or drop the item back onto the ground. And items can be traded only with the players you were with when the item dropped.

Note that there is a 2 hour time limit to item trading (in-game time). After that, the item is bound.

The game didn’t give him your item, he just got lucky and found a primal himself.

It didn’t offer a roll and he was on a new player he didn’t even use! So, because I run with a family member, I forfeit loot and the game doesn’t allow him to trade it to me? I see no trade option.

Again, you don’t forfeit loot. Each player gets their own loot. They can’t even see your loot,

We are playing on the same system. Co-op

Worse news. He dropped the item for me to pick up and then he dropped out and the item disappeared.

It was the Primal chest piece for the Wastes set. Gone now as it would seem. Great programming blizz. Thanks for being considerate to peoples time.

If he could not trade it to you or you could not pick it up, then he did not get it in your game session. He must have gotten it with a different Character and had it in his Stash.

The item should not have disappeared when he quit the game, unless the item was already Bound to his Account (Account Bound). Which is just one more indication that he already had the item and did not find it in your game session.

That means: He could not have given it to you anyway. So, he just threw that Primal item away by dropping it on the ground and then quitting. (He could have at least gotten 15 Forgotten Souls from salvaging it).

Note: Your items will disappear if dropped on the ground and you quit the game. They will only remain on the ground when you quit if the item “belongs” to all Party members. If all Party members quit without picking the item(s) up, then the item(s) will disappear. And the item(s) only stay “Party items” for 2 hours, as TimberWolf stated. After 2 hours expire the items become Account Bound to the player that holds them.

Thanks kindly for your post. He did receive the Primal in game playing with me. He tried to drop it for me to pickup but it kept going back to him. He at no point wore it. He then dropped it and logged and puff, gone. I don’t understand this system worth a hill of beans. I played WoW back in 04-06 and loot was easy to understand in our raids, etc. This game seems the opposite and costly of good gear in situations like mine. Again, thanks for your post and trying to help. I’m just sol.

Normal drops are as Perusoe described above, however, items dropped by Kadala or Upgrade Rare are Account Bound and cannot be traded.

This appears to have been missed by some respondents.
Does this mean you’re playing on console?
If so, I believe trading is restricted on seasonal heroes.

You might get confirmation of this over on the Console Discussion forum.

Also, it’s frowned upon to necro old threads (this one’s from April), especially when it’s on a completely different topic to what your post’s about.
