What am I missing?

So, first time doing a Season. Finished the first three chapters and working on #4. I only have two things left to do.

One will take a while. I have no sets so I can’t do a Set Dungeon. I’m running NRs, GRs, and Bounties in hope of getting one. I have two sets that need two items to complete.

Just a matter of luck, and grinding. No problem.

It’s the Kanai’s Cube quest I can’t seem to do. I’ve extracted dozens of attributes from Legendaries of all types and still have gotten it ticked off. Not sure what is required.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

if you’ve re-logged and tried extracting powers with multiple characters, i would submit a ticket to blizzard. Because my quest got ticked off the very first legendary i extracted.

i did notice a glitch that sometimes my quest wouldn’t check-off for another 20 min of gameplay doing other quests. then suddenly the previous quest was complete.

Are you talking about the Chapter IV objective “…is another man’s treasure”? If so, that objective isn’t to extract a legendary power, it is to upgrade a rare to legendary using the Cube. You said you have finished Chapter III?

Yes, I’d finished Chapter 3.

Just went into the game and the objective in question is “Third Power Cubed - Equip Kanai’s Cube with armor, weapon and a ring Legendary power.”

Does that mean I should add legendary powers to items rather than extract them?

If so, great, more grinding. At 50 Forgotten Souls per upgrade I will be a while.

Gotcha. Helps to be clear. I looked at your profile, no powers equipped. You have extracted powers but you have to choose which ones you want active at any given time. You can change them any time you need to, as many times as you want.

  1. Open Cube. See those 4 windows at bottom? Those are your Weapon, Armor and Jewelry slots.
  2. Click on them and a menu opens. Choose what power you want to equip. You have to have extracted them first.
  3. Voila!

4th slot is the season theme, you can choose any power for it.

You don’t ‘add’ powers to anything.

Upgrading doesn’t use Forgotten Souls - reforging does. Don’t worry about that recipe, yet.

The objective for Kunai’s Cube in the 4th chapter is not extracting legendary attributes. That is the 1st recipe in the Cube - Archive of Tal Rasha.

The objective is upgrading a rare item to legendary. You’re looking for another Cube function. Specifically, Hope of Cain, the 3rd recipe.

Thanks so much for the help.

ETA: And I give up. Couldn’t be bothered anymore.

Used Hope Of Cain to upgrade a piece of armour, a weapon and a ring. Equipped them.

Nothing.

If Blizzard can’t be arsed to give clear instructions I can’t be arsed to follow them.

Chapter 4 - to get the last 2 pieces of your chosen class set.

  1. Finish a L70 Rift on T1 or higher
  2. Reroll a weapon attribute to a socket.
  3. Kill Keywarden in Act 1 on T4 or higher.
  4. Kill Keywarden in Act 2 on T4 or higher.
  5. Kill Keywarden in Act 3 on T4 or higher.
  6. Kill Keywarden in Act 4 on T4 or higher.
  7. Kill Diablo at L70 on T2 or higher.
  8. Complete a L20 Greater Rift solo.
  9. Use Kanai’s Cube to upgrade a rare item to a legendary item.
  10. Learn 5 blacksmithing recipes.
  11. Learn 5 jewelcrafting recipes.

So what is the problem?
What is so difficult to understand?
Are they not clear enough instructions?
What more could you ask for?

If you have trouble with #8, I suggest you use a Legacy of Dreams gem and don’t use set items that give you any bonuses. Meaning don’t use two pieces of the same set, only use one. Bane of the Powerful can be really helpful. Also, Pain Enhancer and Gem of Efficacious Toxin can help out because they do damage.

That is an objective for the Slayer chapter, not chapter 4. While you can do it and get credit for it, you won’t get credit for Slayer chapter as a whole until you complete all previous chapters. So I’m not sure what you are doing. Are you still on Chapter 4? Which objectives are still not completed?

It sounds like you’ve confused two different cube tasks.

One is to upgrade a single rare item to legendary using the 3rd cube recipe. This is in Chapter 4.

Another is to have the cube equipped with all 4 slots. This is in the next chapter, slayer. This doesn’t require any recipe, it just requires clicking on the empty cube slot and then selecting a power you have previously extracted, like Nefertiti lists:

Also note of you’re actually done with chapter 4 and onto slayer, you should have a full set via Haedrig’s gift (check your in game mail at the bottom left to claim them). You get a gift bag for completing chapters 2, 3, and 4.

What you’re missing is basic comprehension of the objectives given to you…

Agree with others saying OP sounds like they’re on Slayer, not chapter 4 and that their profile shows no selected cube powers active. OP just needs to select cube powers as shown in this guide:

Aside: I sure hope the OP doesn’t ruin that Compass Rose they’re so lucky to have dropped (tip to OP… if you do go enchant it, enchant off movement speed for crit damage).

Looking at your profile, none of your characters have anything showing in the cube slots. That’s the area of equipping a weapon, armour, and jewelry that Nefertiri is talking about. I figured her / his instructions were fairly comprehensive. If you need a visual reference, have a look at Mugsy’s post above. Especially 1:05 into the video.

If those instructions are not comprehensive enough, I don’t know that Blizzard could clarify it any better for you.

That video helped a lot.

I thought those slots at the bottom of the cube were just for informational purposes. I had not realized that they selected a trait that affected your character.

Thank you so very much.

You’re welcome!

Please do note my comment on the compass rose and enchanting. That ring has the potential to serve you well in the long run. Make sure that when you go to enchant it, get rid of movement speed and enchant critical hit damage on it instead. You can get max movement speed with 50 paragon points and the first page of paragon points is endless making movement speed on gear undesirable in the long run. But most builds should have crit chance and crit damage on all their jewellery.

Also note, doubling up the same item does not apply its legendary affix twice. Having the same item equipped on your character and in a cube slot is merely a waste of a slot.

I think several have noted this, but wanted to make sure you understood.

The part you seem to be missing for the journey is that you need to activate a power in the cube. When nef said equip them, he did not mean actually equip on your character, you can actually click on one of those four slots, and a window opens up that lets you select a power related to that slot which you now have access to.

Let me know if that makes sense!

Also, as noted, if you completed these steps of the journey, check your mail icon on the bottom left, you should have gotten gifts that include set pieces in them when you open the bags.

Check his profile - he figured it out.

This right here man…holy cow after reading this thread. So much missing!

Thanks again to the people who helped.

To the puritans who dumped on me for not knowing my scripture properly, well, imagine i call out your shortcomings in a manner that would get me banned if I actually articulated my thoughts.
