I just finished watching Mr. llamas stream where toxic players were using scripts to spam gold drops and it was distracting to our enjoyment of the video. Times like this having a vote kick option would be quite useful.
I’ve got a simple answer to your suggestion: NO.
Your votekick function is a password to the game.
What about vote kick?
Absolutely not, it will be abused and not just for voting out PKs which shouldn’t happen either.
toxic players were using scripts to spam gold drops
In D2R you don’t need a script for that, you can merely change drop to 1g and then hold enter while spam clicking gold button. This results in dropping piles significantly faster than what would get you auto-banned on legacy.
Votekick is unpredictable.
You can also vote kick and trigger people for fun.
That doesn’t prevent toxic, that leads to toxic.
Hard no. Password protection >
No …wtf stop posting random complete overhaul’s of the game.
This.
Grow up and face your problems, if you cant do it in a videogame, then good look facing them in your life.
this is a huge work to remaster. trust me, bliz has no time for it. lazzzzzzzzzzzzy
I can also see a situation where people like mr.llama are kicked from games. It goes both ways.
Votekick is the most toxic feature of power that you can put into players hands and you think dropping gold is?
Just use passwords for your lobbys and all the issues that are caused by players suddenly vanish.
The only thing in my opinion they should or could add is a battle tag blocklist to lock out accounts from joining your games and to get a warning when joining one with them inside.
CoD has that system to some extend, basicly gives you a warning when theres an unwanted player.
But that would only be good to some degree, having an PVP Off checkerbox in example would help to stay online for PvM xp or boss runs without having to mess around with whispering 6 other players and constantly searching trustworthy new ones because at some point people get tired and just lock everyone out with passwords, basicly playing online Singleplayer or Coop with friends only, while missing out on the 8 player experience.
But im not sure if Discord in example could change that already, i can imagine a community that asks for battletag before beeing able to join a game and once griefing is figured you could then throw them off the server, with a little com administration.
Either way, Votekick = the worst toxicity possible, people will do it for FUN.
If a player is griefing others in a public game by blocking a door so players cannot further advance into the game, then a vote to kick system makes sense to me.
No issues with adding a vote kick.
Blocking a door…?
Dude that’s why you can hostile anyone.
Dude… that’s why you can make new games…
Dude… that’s why you can make games with passwords…
Wow…
If the majority of the players in a public D2R game all vote to kick someone out of their game, then the majority consensus is that there is a reason for it, like the player they want to kick is a griefer.
So your solution is for the players to either leave the game and not play with each other anymore or force them to PvP and risk dying instead of letting them vote the griefer out of the game. Wow…just…Wow.
at first I would agree with vote kick to get rid of annoying pvp during a good run but…I fear that hackers/bots would eventually manipulate the function and auto boot people before loot dropped.
If the majority of the 8 players in your group are bots, then you don’t want to play with them anyways…
Works just fine in D3, let’s have a vote kick option.
Public games shouldn’t have kicking for obvious reasons (this game supports PKing and kill-stealing and FFA loot)
In passworded games, the game creator should be able to kick players. If the game creator leaves, the game would become “unmoderated”. That would be a pretty good QoL change.
non bot hackers could do it too probably.
