Weird Monkey Tempest Rush?

I am recently trying out the Monkey Tempest Rush for the season and I did a couple GR and I’m now #15 on the leaderboard with a 3 minute GR clear

But I look at all the builds and they are all way different than the one I’m using. For some reason none of them are using Dashing Strike (lol?) A lot of them aren’t even using Cyclone Strike Wall of Wind.

I’m just confused. Am I using it wrong or something? What am I missing?

I look at Maxroll and note the difference between Solo Speed and Solo Push.

That’s what I’m saying…my build looks nothing like what’s on Maxroll

For speed runs, you don’t need a Maxroll/Icy Veins or anything else build, as long as you have the core skills.

It’s more interesting when you want to push, and builds are always adaptable. These are guidelines, not truths. This is why there are often differences between websites and rankings.

This is a #15 on leaderboard run, not a speed run. I mean I guess I did it in 3 minutes which seems like speed but it wasn’t meant to be

I have a feeling it could be one of the usual discussions with Cuddles. And the solo speeds on maxroll do have dashing strike and cyclone strike. I haven’t played monk in years.

Yet again…nothing on Maxroll is even close to what I was using. Idk how to make it any clearer

15th out of 504 gr done with Sunwuko (US server), nothing transcendent if you ask me.

If you haven’t specifically optimized your build, I call it a speed run

We can only measure what we can measure; I also never claimed transcendance. However, you may note that any clear above mine is significantly slower…extrapolate that however you wish. At a certain point, I will have done more than 2 GRs with the build…I will have got ancient gear pieces…augments…etc. again, extrapolate that however you want

Mine is optimized for what I thought was the best way to play it…but I don’t see anything like it anywhere; hence my topic

Try to push (I’m not talking about a 150, let’s be clear.) to see how far you can go, without changing anything, if it’s effective, good for you

I usually never push. If I did, I would want ancient gear first. Then well rolled ancient gear. Then augmented well rolled ancient gear. Then leveled gems. Then a follower equipped with more than flavor/nem. It’s gonna be awhile

Except for certain seasons, I’m not a fan of push either. I just like to have fun without worrying.

But when I was able to get some 150 with a WD, I wasn’t unhappy.

I don’t know how to make it clearer too

The usual; “i have made build X, why dont maxroll/leaderboard use item Y or skill Z?”
But then doesnt listen to the answer.

…a lot of the lower clears on the leaderboard in question have Dashing Strike. Didn’t see Cyclone Strike on the ones I looked at.

Okay, sorry, let me expand on that since you insist on being difficult. Even if some are using Dashing Strike and Cyclone Strike, none of them are using the correct Tempest Rush rune, or the correct Mantra, the correct jewelry, etc. As I’ve said multiple times, nothing on Maxroll is even close to what I’m using. Once again idk how to make that any clearer

The difficulty is at your end. You did a 111 in 3:59 on Monkey Garb set board. Nobody cares about that. It’s just a speed run and so what? Who cares what skills you use that are different from what others use. If you wanna test something on the leaderboard you have to see how it performs when going higher. That’s the purpose of the leaderboards - or at least the main reason (not that I support ‘brain dead’ leaderboard pushing).
It’s almost tempting to ask you to stop this monkey business (since it’s about the Monkey King set)

I’m #15 on the leaderboard. How is that a Speed? Is every single run on the leaderboard, therefore, a speed? What is the difference between a speed and a push, then? If no one cares about the leaderboard, then why do people always talk to me about the leaderboards as some extension of my skill as a player? Please, make it make sense. Because at this point it is you who is engaging in monkey business

Push means what is says, pushing the build to its limits. Speeds means what it says, you are not running at the highest GR possible, simply doing a difficulty you are comfortable with in a fast time.

On a build very, very few players are playing in a season with a theme most people find unpopular in a game that is 13 years old and no longer being supported. Would have been better if you ran it on SSF HC. Your rank would be #1 out of the 28 players who attempted a GR with that build.

TBH, there are only about 5-10 people who seriously push the non-meta builds for each class. Few seasons ago, the Ethereal rotation season, I ranked on all 42 (I don’t have necro DLC) of the multiplayer SC season LBs for solo clears. I spent no more than 15 keys on any build. Except for 2 or 3, I hit the top 200. On most of the LBs I made top 50 or higher. I am far from being a pro D3 player. Many of those builds are builds I have never or rarely played.

It is all about context. A #15 clear is a #15 clear, but is meaningless until you put it in context.

So qualifier upon qualifier upon qualifier upon qualifier…I was told by people here that I suck because I don’t care about pushing or leaderboards. But now that I’m on it, suddenly there’s a whole bunch of qualifying factors that all mean I still suck? Please someone make it make sense

So do I suck then, or not? I get on all the leaderboards easily without even trying, just like you. I’m also far from a pro player. I just want the goalposts to stay the same in these discussions…just tell me where the goalpost is. Of course, I am not talking to you specifically. This is many months and years of posting and people on these forums calling me out because I haven’t done such and such. I just want it to make sense
