We will most likely see Tathamet in Diablo 4

And probably fight him!

At first there was only Anu, he got bored and removed all evil from himself

Which created Tathamet, known as “The Dragon”

The wow leak shows that wow expansion is called “Dragon flight”

And that the Diablo 4 promo is called ”Almagam of rage”

Tathamet is a dragon and he’s an amalgam of Anu’s evil… rage

Not to mention that Tathamet death lead to the creation of the burning hells, each evil representing an aspect of him… hatred, terror, destruction, lie, etc. And those have been combined in the dark soul stone, technically being Tathamet glued back which might have triggered something

I also have to mention that a lot of speculation bring Rathma into play and rathma’s tutor is Trang-Oul… Drum rolls… the Dragon of Balance

Seems like Dragons is Blizzard fetish theme atm

2024 is the year of the dragon… just saying

Well technically we’ve already did see Tathamet apparently in Diablo 3, in the form of Diablo, once Diablo had returned with the essences of the other great evils within himself; but even that wasn’t enough and Diablo the Prime Evil was struck down by the Player.

Now that’s not to say that they won’t try to pull the same thing in Diablo 4, however it’d be a bit tricky. For starters, the black soulstone had been destroyed by Malthael, and Diablo was unleashed again (along with the other great evils still attached to him) due to that. Then we learn that by the time of Diablo 4, the other great evils had managed to separate themselves from Diablo.

Meh, Diablo has existed long enough without a major draconic influence that adding one now would just be… lame.

Well… you are right… dragons have just been part of the lore for 22 years

Not to mention the skill references

Yep, side references and casual name dropping does not make a presence felt or even visible.

As said, no major influence.

Yeah no influence… just the source of all evils

Each of his 7 heads turning into prime evils

It’s like saying that the picture of a puzzle is irrelevant because you haven’t matched up all the pieces together

Also, Trang-Oul is also a dragon, tutor of Rathma, the first Nephalem, pioneer of the necromancers, which has been a class in 2 of 3 games, also potentially Magnus the summoner of Lilith his mother the main antagonist of the trailer

Yep, dragons have no influence in Diablo

he already split into the 7 evils

That’s a big stretch considering his death lead to the creation of the Burning hell’s. These ancient dragons aren’t like angels and demons that can reconstitute and be reborn if you will. Hes dead, Anu is dead. We won’t be seeing nor fighting them.

No influence in the stories of the games.

If you are basing it on the WoW leak, D4 might be out in early 2023 not 2024. Rhykker just posted a good review of this, plus the new Diablo book will be out in October. Diablo: Tales from the Horadric Library Hardcover – October 18, 2022. Let’s go Blizzard how about a beta this summer. PezRader said we would have time to test it.

“We will still have updates in these blogs and they will constantly evolve until release but it may be just better for people to experience and play them in testing to gather such feedback. There will be quite a bit of time to do that once we get into the testing phases. Looking forward to that for sure :)” - PezRader

Exactly. We’ve already seen Duriel and Andariel back in their individual selves in previous trailers, the others are likely as well. Tathamet forming again since it already happened in D3 would be lazy writing.

First of all, Tathamet was never reformed/revived

Second, it wouldn’t be much bad writing because for a vast majority… D3 doesn’t exist, it’s borderline not canon

And here we go again. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or isn’t canon. Secondly, Diablo was trying to combine the might of all the prime and lesser evils, basically making him Tathamet in terms of power.

Seek is correct in that Tethamet didn’t actually reform, his powers/essences that created the prime and lesser evils were combined giving Diablo essentially the powers of Tethamet.

Yep and it only
Makes sense that if your strong form didn’t work, you try to come back with your strongest form

Also, if Rathma is in league with Lilith, he’s “The necromancer” the one that summons and revives

Maybe there was just missing elements

Soulstone+7 evil=dark soul stone

(Dark soul stone+burning hells)x Rathma=Tathamet

Yes, the developers had even stated that all of the other great evils (both prime and lesser evils) had serparated themselves from Diablo.

I believe that the point was that bringing back Tathamet was already attempted in Diablo 3 and somewhat successful through Diablo. Now if we’re talking about bringing back the actual gigantic demon dragon that was Tathamet; then I honestly don’t think that’ll ever happen; due to a few reasons.

  • Tathamet was massively large (like probably larger than Sanctuary); so unless we have a thing where the dragon sends forth a smaller avatar that we’d have to kill in order to defeat him, I don’t see us fighting such a beast.
  • Tathamet wasn’t just the prime evils and lesser evils made up together, as they simply were his seven heads. Tathamet was also all of Hell itself, as his body was the Burning Hells itself. So for Tathamet to actually comeback, not only would the Great Evils needed to be merged, but so too would all of the Burning Hell; and I don’t see that happening, especially not in Diablo 4.

Everything is possible and makes sense of written properly

They could be forced and willingly recreate Tathamet if they need to

Imagine if Imperius in his lockeddowned heaven was doing shady things like tuning the Crystal arch to instead of creating new angels, it’s merged their power in him, creating a supreme Angel

Hell would have no choice but to pull a supreme being too

And we would not only be stuck between that but also would need to kill the victor

Funnily enough, I can see Imperius certainly doing that (assuming that the other angels don’t notice ofc); but even in the event that they do, I don’t see Hell doing anything similar. Instead they’d be fighting each other over leadership of Hell. That’s the thing with Hell, there’s hardly any unity in it. Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if part of the reason the battle between Anu and Tathamet ended in a draw was because Tathamet was also attacking itself during the battle (it’s seven heads bickering and attacking one another rather than focus solely on Anu).

In short for all of Hell to be united, you’ll have to have a bit of a repeat of Diablo 3, where someone orchestrates the events and forcibly creates the situation.

I am pretty sure we won’t see it in Diablo 4, but mostly like will be in the future expansion of Diablo 4 assuming there will be more than one expansion.

Yeah I totally agree

I retract my “willingly” and double my bet on “forced” lol

Lilith merges with the burning hells and now controls who respawn or not

The prime evil flee it because the masses of demons are against them now and if they die they can’t respawn at will

Only place to exile, sanctuary. Where Diablo 4 takes place, where we have all of them on the loose to kill, The dark exile 2.0

We kill them not knowing(or maybe) they are in fact going to feed Lilith’s plan. Once we kill all of the, Tathamet is reborn through Lilith’s burning hells… she’s “The mother” afterall
