We need way to flex - thoughts?

Hey all,
I know that I’m just a filthy casual that loves the game, appreciates the development and the community. Does anyone remember how fun frozen throne icon grind was and then you could join chat lobby and battle people.
I’m sure if diablo 3 adds in a way for the community to interact in game or compete other than pvp it would be a lot of fun. Yes leader boards are cool but majority of people can’t compete on that level. You can grind portraits but it doesnt feel the same something is missing.
hate if want I just miss the feeling of unlocking super hard portrait and have people be like :open_mouth: in game or in wow when you see someone with rare mount or an item only few people have.

in b4 flaming (:

thoughts?

well

that would require rare items

let’s hope for something in D4
maybe stuff you can get for blood shards

Do you have cosmic wings?

Personally I would consider the wings from mastering the set dungeons as more of a “flex” item, that requires some effort beside just running around and praying to the RNG gods.

I enjoyed current S24, they brought back loot hunt for a brief moment. Rest of the game is always a treadmill where you play jackpot machine in the town square. PvP is long dead in Diablo 3, development team plugged ears for anything PvP related and for some people it’s the best thing after sliced bread. Few tried to give suggestions but they plugged ears to focus on PvE; appears it’s for preventing some profanity talk or it’s too hard to implement new systems. Can’t guess which one.

I would assume the scaling is the major issue. Players have about a million hp, doing hits in the trillions is norm when appropriately geared. Outside of giving everyone the same stat template in PvP (as in every skill does the same set amount of damage and spec is irrelevant) the balance is a nightmare.

  1. 100% item completion reward. After self collecting every legendary in the game, in-game text and forum color turns to legendary-gold.

  2. D3 speed-run championship. Everyone starts with the same base character, and each client has the same fixed seed (each player gets the same random drops). There be a leaderboard like F1(instead of circuits act1,act2,act3, etc…), at the end of the D3 speed-run season the winner will get battle.net currency $1,000 first place, $500 second place, $250 third place, (only usable for digital goods) each winner also gets a blizz-forum wide special avatar to celebrate their victory.

(2) rewards retained players and attracts the speed running community to amplify the games exposure through social media and streaming platforms.

They could do something with the Challenge Rifts. They already track time completion so iuts not impossible to add a further leaderboard specific to this, if not done so already (which maybe it is - I don’t like the Challenge Rifts so I don’t do them.)

Or, heck they could add an achievement for them like “successfully complete 100 CRs and get this banner/wings” do it 1000 times, get this, and then once more at 10000000 times (because we all know how D3 scaling actually works), you get to be Urshi.

You’ll need to wait for Diablo 4.

We’ll get mounts then and those are the ultimate ego candy, they’ll have limited drop mounts I’m sure that you can lord over others.

Fun times!

where did ur post go? :grinning:

They could add any number of “achievements” tied to in-game activity with rewards available based on them. For example, they could add something like “get one Primal” and you unlock Primordial Ooze feat of strength; get 100 of them, and you get Nephylem (ylem is a substance of creation per alchemy, so its play on words); but get 1000 or whatever (more like 3500 given the usual bump streak) and you get Soup for the Soul which unlocks a special wingless wings (it makes your character glow, maybe).
