We gonna have Trading in D4 - "Luis Barriga"

Well, as stated on Q&A today, Luis Barriga said trading IS a thing to maintain the game and social alive.

Yeah absolutely, we definitely want Diablo 4 to be very social, I mean the shared world is something that we’re leaning on and we do want that opportunity for players to go like "Oh man, I can’t believe you have that item, let me barter with you"
We’re still figuring out the limitations that we’re goin to have, but trading is definitely going to be a big part of it both, direct player to player, and also with your clan mates through a clan bank, so stay tuned for more details but we’ll definitely have trading.

They already said that over a year ago (11/2019)

Zaven: Our underlying philosophy here is we think it is the best when you can kill a monster, and get loot that way. So we want to make sure that whatever we do, we kinda respect that part of Diablo. It is core to Diablo. But with that in mind, we also do want to allow trading. So our current strategy is this, and you know, it is still early days — so we really want to hear your feedback on this in particular.

So the idea is that we have kinda three different types of tradeable items, so to speak: there is a class of item (a bunch of items) that can always be traded, no matter what, freely. I can give it to Angela. She can give it to David. He can give it to Joe. So on, and so forth.

— and then, we can also have a class of items that are tradeable one time. So I have an item. I use it for a year, and then I’m like: “I don’t want this item anymore;” and I give it to Angela. But now, she can’t trade it anymore. It is bound to her. So things like that can only be traded one time.

— and then, we are also thinking that– probably — the highest quality, most powerful things in the game, especially in that area, there should be items that you can’t trade at all. That you have to earn yourself. You have to go do those end-game dungeons, and kill monsters, etc. to get that loot.

So you can kinda see, just like with these very simple kinda gradient of things and options here, where we kinda do the call off when do something becomes a one-time trade, or a never trade — we have a lot of flexibility there; and we are going to be listening to you, guys, in kinda getting that feedback as well. So please, let us know what you think.

Yeah they basically just reiterated what we already knew: Trading will be in the game but they don’t know to what extent they’re going to limit it.

Another Waste of a question chosen, Like 9 of the others answered last year.

The game should either not have trading, or have two game modes, trading and no trading, with different droprates and crafting rules, balanced for similar gear progression experiences.

So trading is gonna be it? No Auction House. I think they are looking it way too complicately.

if this is gonna the way it goes, maybe there should be trading hub? I think Ive seen it before in other game, but I cant remember which one it was.

They stated that towns will be trading hubs, thats the idea of socializing in towns, trade with ppl and after trade maybe even party up and go grind the next area.

Or just watch offers/offer in that town chat, or speech baloon like it was in D2:

X item/s for X item/s, give up on trying/trade and focus on your own thing afterwards if you dont like to socialize.
Repeat.

I want proper Trading Hub, and then use Human Slaves to carry me around.

Most people don’t really understanding the issue with trading. Which can be a problem or not depending on your perspective. Trading introduces personal networks into the game. The people who spend a lot of time developing relationships or already have them will be able to trade for almost anything they want. The people without a network has a choice to either spend an inordinate amount of time searching or building the trading network. Or else they can just pay someone to deliver that item to you and not have to deal with the trade network aspect. That’s what the auction house allowed.

This is just how it works. On instagram you can spend hundreds of hours building the network to spread your posts or you can just pay instagram to boost the post. Any system that involves networks will incentivize agents to provide services that bypass that network for a cost. This is why understanding network utility involves understanding how transaction costs work. It’s also an important function of markets to allow you to pay to play.

I’m ok with either system as I understand that finding your own gear vs trading has pros and cons.

Trading Network sounds like a new fun idea, gotta remember that, if it worked like modern Social Media almost. Im not sure I like the relationship stuff.

The word is “barter” not “borrow”

This is all in line with what they said last year. D4 will have trading with some limitations.

I am very interested to see what the Clan Bank will be and how it will work. That was a suggestion that came up on the D3 forums quite a few times with players providing some detailed concepts of how it might work.

Speaking of Guilds. I kind hope they dont do Player Driven Guilds. Just guilds, whos the most badass, is the leader.

Ah sorry, I’m brazilian and wrote it by ears, thought I heard “borrow”
