I see on the Maxroll website they have this weird version for Vyr set that uses Cold damage but the best version for Vyr is the lightning one with Starfire and Manald Heal, isn’t it?? I’m really confused why they have the wrong build there…in fact they don’t show the best Vyr build at all. Can someone tell me why maxroll is hiding the true power of Vyr set??
There’s a lightning spec if you click the drop down menu bar at the top of the tab for GR push setup; with long explanation for its mechanics below.
First one is approachable as a replacement for Furnace in Cube, but other one is doubtful and may have very negligible impact at high GR tiers. You may want to check that from the simulator first, in case you haven’t yet.
You can ask them at their discord or drop by their channel when that individual guide writer streaming live. If you are not rude, they answer and list the reasons behind their choices. They usually have their own reasons but these setups are designed to be convenient to play thus minimizing the loot hunt and usually taken from top players of leader boards; which include the guide writers themselves.
All the builds you see at the maxroll are aimed to shove the player into the Greater Rifts with little to no preparation as fast as possible with high efficiency. That doesn’t mean rest of your options are worthless nor entire game consist of these builds only. As different players have different preferences and comfort zones, such reflected by diversity of well-known builds in leader boards, you’ll always have options and substitute items for a trade-off for different traits.
Been a few seasons since I have played Vyr’s, but from what I remember, the true power isn’t being in Archon form, it is when you come out of it with massive stacks and blast stuff with Arcane Orb for 20 seconds (keep the Arcane stacks for 20 seconds with The Swami).
“Best” depends what you think “best” is. If it is max pushing power, then the cold version is the one you want. If “best” is a fun build that you like, then the Maxroll build may not be right for you.
The best version is the one that is the coolest and most fun one to play that is also the most powerful. It is an equation; (cool+fun)(power) = the higher the number the better it is. The Starfire Manald Heal Power Hungry Zeis version that gets to hold down right click and teleport everywhere to win. The equation result is a higher number than having to manage a whole bunch of stuff, and use otherwise useless spells at specific times for a marginal boost, and etc of the featured versions of the build. I guess someone said there is the best build featured somewhere if you navigate somewhere or something, but I didn’t see it or find it so idk
I also pick the builds I play based on cool and fun along with power. The nice part is, everyone has a different vision of what fun and cool is and how much they matter compared to power. Because of everyone has a different opinion, a web site has to worry simply on META. They are only going to try to display the one that goes the highest the fastest.
I think the best builds are probably LoD Ingeom Explosive Blast Chain Reaction Sorcerer, Ingeom Avalanche Snowcapped Mountain Earthquake Whirlwind Barb, and of course Vyr Starfire Power Hungry Manald Heal Zeis Chantoodle Sorcerer. Maybe argument can be made for Season 1 Akkhan Strongarm Phalanx Stampede but it’s gone now because they removed the set.
Let me correct you.
Because the set changed.
Akkhan is still present, and if I’m not mistaken, the most powerful of the crusader sets.
No, you did not correct me. The set was removed. There is no more 50% resource cost reduction which was the main feature allowing Phalanx Stampede or Condemn to be spammed. It’s gone now. They killed it.
If you are talking about whatever set replaced it, then okay, sure, cool. I don’t care about whatever the new set is because it’s completely different.
If you want to live in the past, there’s nothing I can do for you.
I’m a WD main. I miss the zWD, ZeroDogs, but I’ve learned to live with it.
“Oh, you’re a WD? We’ll ban you right away.”
Playing this class for 13 years, 95% solo, well, I’ve adapted.
And it always makes me laugh when people come to me for help with conquests that require movement speed.
Why would that make you laugh when WD has Spirit Walk Severance, Shukrani Triumph, Grave Injustice, and Chicken set? Or you mean it makes you laugh like haha it’s so easy for WD?
The number of times I’ve done runs (conquests) for Crusaders or DHs…
But according to them their class remains the fastest class
You can still use it with LoD, but it won’t be as effective as previous iterations obviously. I have theories but haven’t tested them fully yet; SLW pants can be more than it seems.
An amok runner out of hell.
I would expect DH because they need control and shallow resource pool so they can not commit to mobility, but Crusaders? I thought they’re as fast as WD if they wished.
Yes, but I don’t live in the past. ZeroDogs isn’t effective today. So…
Some tried to follow me regarding the conquest “Boss mode”. They returned to the town only to realize that they would not be able to overtake me.
Edit: Regarding the conquest, knowledge of maps can help me.
The one season that WD was top DPS, they immediately nerfed Mundunugu.
Other classes (Tal Rasha, Inna…) at least had 2 seasons of being OP…
Playing this season, I picked up several Primal Vyr set pieces.
So, I decided to see how good this set is now.
I went to Icy and to Max and note the setups are identical, so set it up that way.
I guess I do not get it at all. Pretty much seems like a useless set - to me.
I don’t see anyone using it in the leaderboards.
I am curious what I must be doing wrong with it.
It’s… an acquired taste, that’s for sure. I enjoy being in Archon state, but the way the set plays is not really to my taste. It may not be that you’re doing anything wrong, it too may not be to your taste.
When Vyr Archon is firing on all cylinders, it’s pretty awesome. It can be tough to get it to that point though
Yeah, that’s pretty much what I was implying. It just sucks worse when its the haedrig’s gift because you have to have the 6 pieces set to really get a damage boost to skyrocket progression unlike some sets where the 2 piece bonus gives a large damage multiplier. Maybe if they gave the 2 piece some kind of damage increase in that regard but it’d be wonky since the set banks on Archon and you probably won’t have a ton of CD in chapter 2.
