Just think what Diablo - all games would look like it they would have used Unreal Engine and Daz.
Everything in game is flat 2D. Unreal and Daz create a 3D game play experience.
Colors and graphics would have been out of this world.

I feel sorry for you.
Imagine playing whirlwind barbarian in first person perspective!

Everything in Diablo III is rendered in 3d. The difference is the isometric view perspective is locked. The most obvious clue is you can walk around and behind objects. You can’t do that in 2d.
I would buy a Diablo VR game without hesitation. Full motion controller support, gesture based movesets, all that jazz.
…but it will never happen. Just like rewriting the entire game with a different engine.
I suggested this years ago when they had the money and the game was still in active development. I’m not sure why but all the good ideas went into D4 and the VR one just died a quite death.
Well, I get motion sick real easy, so it would probably look like this
.
Especially with VR
We would have to lose a lot of what makes a Diablo game great to have the game look like Doom. There’s no way Unreal Engine is going to be able to randomize monster spawns in the numbers that they spawn in D3 or D4. Add to that all the calculations that happen in the higher levels of difficulty like damage numbers, RNG drop rates, and status effects, and your PC is going to chug along at 5 fps. Borderlands and Nioh is a good example of this. Set mobs, and damage numbers that don’t go very high.
Am I the only one who doesn’t experience that? When I went to go try it first, everybody was telling me that I should be real worried about getting sick and I didn’t feel a thing.
There’s a little bit of disagreement between the inner ear and what my eyes are telling me, but that’s pretty tolerable. I got used to it pretty quickly.
If they can make worlds for movies I am sure it can be done in gaming. 2D maps look horrible and looks like your standing on top of a building. Just a thought
That comparison doesn’t make any sense. Movies don’t have maps, characters, items, affixes, ect… that randomly generate on the fly. Also, no one is using a setup that even comes close to the capabilities of a computer used for making movies. What you are asking for CAN be done to an extent, but the systems won’t compare to these games. Everything is numbers, and a computer can only handle so many numbers at once. So in order to have all the loot, all the damage multipliers, all the enemies, we need the numbers in the graphics to be cut down. I would love to experience Diablo like it was Elden Ring, it’s actually my dream game, but I just don’t think it’s reasonably attainable at the moment.
We probably need the numbers to be cut down in Diablo3 anyway. The visual effects of a lot of those numbers being crunched can never make it to the screen as it is.
