Unpopular opinion or am i just imagining things?

Our longest word that actually has a meaning is:

Elkelkáposztástalanítottátok

No wait actually it’s:

Megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért :joy:

Nordvästersjökustartilleriflygspaningssimulatoranläggningsmaterielunderhållsuppföljningssystemdiskussionsinläggsförberedelsearbete.

Yes, that’s an actual word.

Learning a langauge and mastering it are a bit different.

I won’t argue with the experts on language difficulty, I am not qualified, but I would take the Pepsi challenge with English vs anything but some Japanese dialects being an absolute nightmare to pick up the nuances of.

Read - current tense
Read - past tense
Red - same inflection as past tense read but it’s a color

Even native speakers just can’t seem to get their heads around Their, There, They’re and the misuse of ‘is’ versus ‘are’…so painful :stuck_out_tongue:

In any event, I am always thoroughly impressed with anyone who can speak a 2nd language, even poorly. I picked up some Spanish and Arabic in my travels but only enough to nod my head at the right time and tell a woman she’s beautiful.

I agree mastering a language is a whole other level, than basic communication.

Yes true, I realy envy you guys. The whole Nordic, Skandinavian region is so other worldly beautiful. I wish I could live there.

And here I was thinking I was doing well with antidisestablishmentarianism.

The vast majority of long words in English are actually Latin lol

At a certain point, when a word gets long enough, it’s just bragging. We get it, you’re bigger than the rest of us, sheesh :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I hate that stupid word. Anti and dis are semi-synonymous making the word almost double negative. On top of that it’s all but useless unless you have two different groups, one of whom is a disestablishmentarianism and the other group is against them or something?

Hyperbole, though much shorter is a much, much better word. Better by a factor of not less than two or three million and in every way imaginable superior.

Well, okay then, but with the same number of letters, how about floccinaucinihilipilification (the estimation of something as to be worthless)?

Pretty much love that one! And it’s a new one for me, so thanks for that.

I will admit that I am slightly bummed you walked past my hyperbole comment
