Unintalled - Still takes up disk space

I honestly have not played this game in years. I uninstalled using the Blizzard app but for some reason still shows up in my C Drive and is taking up 33 gigs. I cannot seem to find any files associated with Diablo 3 on my PC. I’ve followed these steps under the troubleshooting guide with no success, please help:

***In rare situations, you may need to manually uninstall the game. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program.
  3. Right-click the game icon and select Uninstall.
  4. If the game is not listed under Add/Remove Programs, manually uninstall the game by deleting the folder in the directory where the game was installed.
  5. After uninstalling, there may be game files remaining on your computer. Search for any related files and delete them. These files are normally found in the following locations:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Temp
  • C:\Windows\Temp
  • C:\Program Files\gametitle
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\gametitle
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Blizzard Entertainment
  • C:\Users\Public\Games\gametitle
  • C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\gametitle\
  1. Empty the Recycle bin. ***********

Hey Zanzibar,

Do you mean that Diablo 3 still shows up in the Windows apps list, but you don’t see any files/folders on the drive?

If the files/folders don’t show up, then the game isn’t actually taking up space. When you install a game Windows records the size of the program and that is what is displayed in the programs / apps list, but this list does not update dynamically. So it’s possible to manually delete the game’s files/folders and have it still show up in the programs list, and the list will show the size of the program that was set at the time of install.

Double check that you don’t have any folders for Diablo 3 showing up in the default install location (or elsewhere if you changed it to a secondary drive for example). Default location is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo III

There are ways to remove the entry from the programs list in Windows, but those are a bit beyond the scope of what we can recommend here on the forums (it involves editing the registry). You are welcome to look online though or get recommendations from others on the forums here. Reinstalling Diablo 3 and doing a proper uninstall should also work to remove the entry.

Hopefully that clears things up!
