Unable to equip ring after sanctification!

System: Nintendo Switch (OLED) - v19.0.1
Diablo 3: Eternal Collection - v2.7.7.92380

I’m playing Diablo 3 (Season 34) as a Barbarian on my Nintendo Switch. I used an Angelic Crucible to sanctify my Convention of Elements ring, which had the Taeguk rare gem inserted in it at the time. The sanctification worked, although it did remove the gem and put it in my inventory; however, I am now unable to equip the ring. I receive the error, “You cannot equip more than one of this item.” I do not have any other Convention of Elements rings already equipped in any ring slot, not even in a follower’s slot.

I tried unequipping all rings from my character and my follower, put them in stash then quit the game to the title screen. After that I exited to the Nintendo Switch home screen and also closed out the game from there. I then restarted the game, got the sanctified ring out of my stash and attempted to equip it but still received the same error.

It also will not let me insert any gem into the sanctified ring because it does not even display the ring as an option for socketing. This leads me to believe it “thinks” there is already a gem inserted (the Taeguk), even though it’s not. Unfortunately, the sanctified ring also does not appear in the Remove Gem list, so there is no way to try to remove the “phantom” gem.

Any suggestions on how I can equip the sanctified ring or socket a gem? Or is this an actual defect?

That message is to inform you that you can only equip one sanctified item… and that you already have one equipped.

If you wish to equip your sanctified COE, you will need to unequip your (other) sanctified item.

Oh! I did not realize you could only equip one sanctified item total. Thank you for letting me know that. I will try removing the other sanctified item (Lamentation) and then see if I can equip the sanctified ring.

Update: Removing the other sanctified item did the trick. I’m such a noob!

Hi again:

Excellent !

That would seeem to be a console-specific issue… On the PC, a sanctified ring automatically gets a socket and a gem / legendary gem can easily be socketed in it.

You should probably post about this either on Console Discussion or Console Bug Report forum. This category here is for bugs on the PC version of Diablo III.
