Do you think it would be possible to support Linux? Ever? Maybe with Diablo 4? I can’t control Windows update. So sick of having an OS which I hate to play the games I love. Do you think that maybe possibly you could stop supporting Microsoft? They are not a good company.
Just disable auto-updates and you’ll be fine.

I use Norton Anti-Virus to block as many Microsoft programs from accessing the internet as I possibly can. And I religiously disable Windows Update. Their “Updates” are nothing but Bloatware and Malware. “Your Phone”, “Microsoft Store”, “Microsoft Pay”, “Game Bar Presence Writer” which auto-starts every time a video game goes full screen. half a dozen XBOX apps and I’ve never owned an XBOX! And you can’t delete any of it!
I hope some other company makes a OS soon.
Depending on his Windows version, that isn’t always possible (you can’t do it on Home, but you can on Professional and Enterprise can use the LTSB capability for this function).
Well, I had never installed Home, but from what I read it has a lot of limitations compared to Professional/Enterprise, so rule number 1 when installing Windows is to never install Home.
With the home version, you can manually disable the WU service however.
Here’s the thing:
If you want to avoid issues, before you go in an start a long gaming session, check and do updates prior. You can attempt to set the system on a schedule to do them when you aren’t actively using it, but if the system is set to sleep or is off, guess what? That won’t happen.
Then it will try to do them the next time the computer is running. You defer updates (up to a week) then its going to force them after that point.
But, if you stay on top of them, you won’t have as many issues, or you can disable the updater completely (by disabling its service) but you will put your computer at risk over the long term if you never bother to update it at all.
Technically, my main desktop is still running on Windows 7 Pro, only because A: I plan to build a new tower soon anyway, even though this one will run 10 fine, and B: I also run some odd software that I know will not run ok in 10. All my other daily systems have 10 however. But I have updates completely disabled on this machine, I always did them manually once a month.
Most (cheap) prebuilt computers have Home on them, so that isn’t something the user can simply avoid, especially since the upgrade isn’t something they see as a value or can afford to do in a lot of cases.
Give this set of steps to remove XBox related items a try. It’ll take some careful doing, but should work. Thank goodness I stopped the update at 1903. 1909 and later currently suck massively for gamers trying to eke out every last resource for their games.

Windows 10 is a really crap system if you aren’t a power user and tweak it as you please. But if OP wants to learn how to tweak it then getting an upgrade is definitely worth the money - W10 is an amazing platform when optimized.
Ohh wow. Yesterday t d3 was running bad. There was a window update when i restarted. That update messed everything up. I couldn’t even get on a website, d3 would crash, nothing responded without a 5min delay. Something was up at least for me
