UE Speed Variants

I cannot see your gear but I’ll make general tips that may or may not be applicable to your case specifically. Here are some general tips for UE Multishot in the current setting (S17-19).

  1. Use more legendary items with defensive powers - Some common legendary items for DH with strong toughness powers include: Elusive Ring, Unity (Elusive is better though), Wraps of Clarity, Visage of Gunes, Pride’s Fall (with CC3 bonus), and even Stone Gauntlets (smart loot for strength classes though).
  2. Equip diamonds in your chest/pants - The toughness gains far outweigh the damage gains from putting emeralds in these slots. As you get more paragon/augments, this scales even better in favor of diamonds. Only at extreme levels of dexterity (perhaps ~50k+) does it not matter much anymore.
  3. Consider the Boar companion - The boar companion adds quite a bit of survivability and even gives you some life regen too (which synergizes with the Molten Wildebeast Gizzard).
  4. Try Evasive Fire: Hardened rune - With recent improvements to the UE MS build including the popular Captain Crunch set, resource management is less severe (most UE MS builds can attain around 70% RCR with minimal effort), so more armor gained from Evasive Fire can help a little.
  5. Equip more resource cost reduction - This is applicable with the CC3 set bonus. Ideally, you want at least 64% RCR (10% paragon + 50% Yang’s + 20% CC2 bonus = 64%) but RCR doesn’t suffer from diminishing returns as toughness. Every 8% RCR added multiplies your toughness by about 1.087. If you cube a Pride’s Fall (30% RCR), it multiplies your toughness by 1.429 which almost completely offsets the Squirt’s Necklace penalty (1.5x damage taken), and both Pride’s and Squirt’s are active together.
  6. Consider a defensive legendary gem - With the new Squirt’s necklace and possibly Pride’s Fall synergizing well with the build, having a damage absorption shield is quite the boon. Thus, try the Molten Wildebeast Gizzard with the build! Other gem options for more toughness include Esoteric Alteration or Gogok of Swiftness (to a lesser extent with the dodge chance).
  7. Allocate some paragon points into vitality - If damage and healing are not the issue, but instead you are often 1-shot, then adding more vitality can be the right choice. The best part about this fix is that it’s easy to adjust how much vitality you need.
  8. Try using defensive passive skills - There are a few passives DH can use to get tougher including: Awareness (cheat death), Numbing Traps (virtually everything should be slowed at all times), and Perfectionist.

As you gain more paragon levels and hence more dexterity, you can transition more of your stats towards damage instead due to the asymmetric scaling of GRs. See the thread: Dexterity scaling vs GR progression for more information on this aspect!
