UE Speed Variants

The addition of the new Squirts buff and Captain Crimsons set in the last patch has opened up a wide variety of possibilities for running speed Rifts/Bounties.

Over at IcyVeins, they offer up a standard GoldWrap Cold MS build with Squirts instead of a HellFire amulet.

https://www.icy-veins.com/d3/unhallowed-essence-multishot-demon-hunter-speed-farming-variation

Bluddshed offers up a build that uses Physical UE/CC/Squirts with Echoing Fury cubed.

https://www.diablofans.com/builds/105139-2-6-6-multishot-echoing-fury-speeds-t16

dmkt and I have been tinkering around with a Fire variant that that is pretty quick. It is a UE/CC/Squirts that has Echoing Fury and Prides Fall cubed. Rings = Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac, Avarice Band and RoRG.

I wear Warzechain Armguards, but Wraps or Nems would work just as well.

Gems are Bane of the Hoarder, Zeis, and Molten Wildebeest Gizzard. The Gizzard is optional, but does keep the Prides Fall and Squirts buffs up.

There are a wide variety of skills and passives that you can use, what I have is extremely fast. Even makes public bounties fun again

If Squirts is really fixed in the next patch, then this could be the base of a nice speed gem leveling build.

Hmmm…I think i have a nice Primal RoRG stashed somewhere on a mule that I could wear and cube Avarice

SOOO nice to have many options for different needs instead of just a couple cookie cutters!

(PS - it’s BOON of the Hoarder…Bane is bad (eg: bane of my existence) , Boon is good!)

(PPS - waiting for Meteorblade to chime in…)

RoRG always gets attack speed, life per hit, and a primary attribute (e.g. dexterity), so it can’t be rolled as well as other items. Avarice band on the other hand has guaranteed crit chance and dexterity so can be trifecta whatever (e.g. min/max damage + crit chance + crit damage + socket).

I’m thinking more along the lines for T16 gold/mat/bounty farming where trifecta ring isn’t an issue…

Farming for a trifecta Avarice would be a PITA as well so even a Dex/Crit/AS RoRG is likely better than anything I have currently.

Though the more I think about it, my farming setup is pretty speedy already…

I think cindercoat instead of prides fall for fire variant would be better. wouldnt have to worry about the damage requirement.

Agreed, Cindercoat is much more stabled.

Pride’s Fall adds 30% damage reduction (with Capt. Crunch set bonus) which almost completely offsets the Squirt penalty. With Gizzard gem, you can keep both buffs active longer.

That is true. I wasn’t thinking from the damage reduction viewpoint as I really don’t take damage in T16’s anymore.

We should probably come up with a decent guide for T16 from low, mid and high paragon player bases.

Lately I’ve seen a lot of P600 and 700 players in T16 bounties. Can’t blame them because there aren’t many folks running lower in NS.

I play it this way too – it feels great.

I don’t use vault either, bounties have become a little more pleasant with the big run speed setup.

Any ETA on the low one? :)) I’m a little over 400 Paragon. No ancients, no augments.

I’m running a similar build, but I get oneshot sometimes. Killing in T16 is fast enough, but survivability is not. Even with the wraps of clarity instead of nems.

I cannot see your gear but I’ll make general tips that may or may not be applicable to your case specifically. Here are some general tips for UE Multishot in the current setting (S17-19).

  1. Use more legendary items with defensive powers - Some common legendary items for DH with strong toughness powers include: Elusive Ring, Unity (Elusive is better though), Wraps of Clarity, Visage of Gunes, Pride’s Fall (with CC3 bonus), and even Stone Gauntlets (smart loot for strength classes though).
  2. Equip diamonds in your chest/pants - The toughness gains far outweigh the damage gains from putting emeralds in these slots. As you get more paragon/augments, this scales even better in favor of diamonds. Only at extreme levels of dexterity (perhaps ~50k+) does it not matter much anymore.
  3. Consider the Boar companion - The boar companion adds quite a bit of survivability and even gives you some life regen too (which synergizes with the Molten Wildebeast Gizzard).
  4. Try Evasive Fire: Hardened rune - With recent improvements to the UE MS build including the popular Captain Crunch set, resource management is less severe (most UE MS builds can attain around 70% RCR with minimal effort), so more armor gained from Evasive Fire can help a little.
  5. Equip more resource cost reduction - This is applicable with the CC3 set bonus. Ideally, you want at least 64% RCR (10% paragon + 50% Yang’s + 20% CC2 bonus = 64%) but RCR doesn’t suffer from diminishing returns as toughness. Every 8% RCR added multiplies your toughness by about 1.087. If you cube a Pride’s Fall (30% RCR), it multiplies your toughness by 1.429 which almost completely offsets the Squirt’s Necklace penalty (1.5x damage taken), and both Pride’s and Squirt’s are active together.
  6. Consider a defensive legendary gem - With the new Squirt’s necklace and possibly Pride’s Fall synergizing well with the build, having a damage absorption shield is quite the boon. Thus, try the Molten Wildebeast Gizzard with the build! Other gem options for more toughness include Esoteric Alteration or Gogok of Swiftness (to a lesser extent with the dodge chance).
  7. Allocate some paragon points into vitality - If damage and healing are not the issue, but instead you are often 1-shot, then adding more vitality can be the right choice. The best part about this fix is that it’s easy to adjust how much vitality you need.
  8. Try using defensive passive skills - There are a few passives DH can use to get tougher including: Awareness (cheat death), Numbing Traps (virtually everything should be slowed at all times), and Perfectionist.

As you gain more paragon levels and hence more dexterity, you can transition more of your stats towards damage instead due to the asymmetric scaling of GRs. See the thread: Dexterity scaling vs GR progression for more information on this aspect!

While Iria is trying to get TL3 back (lolz)…don’t be afraid to ratchet down a notch on torments at that plevel. Hell I rolled a temp crusader and even at 2k paragon I have trouble in T16 due to lousy gear and a far from perfect setup.

Start with 3.2.1 on Iria’s list IMO…especially if you are running pure UE (not UE/CC3).

Don’t know if your current profile/armory is after you took Iria’s advice (to people who don’t know, you can use d3character planner to check someone else’s profile. bnet tag is shown on this forum), but you’re using standard UE build with CC/RoRG. I’d say you shouldn’t really have a problem with survivality. This is not to throw shade at you.

From Iria’s advice I highly recommend the 3rd legendary gem choice (1st, 2nd being Trapped and Zei). Never tried Molten Wildebeast Grizzard but Esoteric Alteration surely does make you error-proof. And try considering taking Awareness(cheat death) for now.

And learn to use Vault. It has a short invulnerability frame that makes you immune to any damage while rolling. Use it to dodge grenades, Mortar affix on elites (hate these two combo), etc. No, you don’t have to be precise, you see them flying, just use it when you’re about to get hit. Once you get used to it, you would feel much more smooth playing the game.

Also, don’t forget the UE 4pc bonus. You might not be there yet, but when mobs start to not die easily, you will sometimes have them clutter in your melee range. UE 4pc bonus gives you defence and dmg increase, but not having to have mobs in your 10 yrd radius for 10 sec. Don’t let it fall of, Vengeance, Wraps of Clarity buff also.

I zero’d out my dex paragon and used a level 0 Zeis and level 36 Bane of the Trapped. I don’t have unaugmented gear so this is as close as I can get.

I ran a few different variants at T16.

This is just for rifts/bounties. Not a GR build at all.

For a Para 400 speed build I would recommend basing it on a straight UE6, cold variant, with Squirts.

With UE6 you can then use the Goldwrap belt. Goldwrap will significantly increase your toughness and this is why this is not a build for GR’s, no gold

You will use 2 of these 3 bracers. Wraps of Clarity, Nemesis, Warzechain Armguards. Wraps for toughness, Nems for Death Breaths, Warz for Speed. Wear one and cube the other.

In cube you’ll have Dawn, Bracers, and Avarice band.

Passives = Ambush, Cull of the Weak, Tactical Advantage, and Hot Pursuit or Blood Vengeance.

Gems = Zeis, Bane of the Trapped and Boon of the Hoarder.

Since this is a cold build you’ll be using Multishot Windchill. Pet boar or wolf.

If you are doing speeds at Para 400, you might want to stick with T13 vs T16

Since you are using Goldwrap, you will not have the Capt. Crimsons RCR/CDR buff so Echoing Fury will not be advised for the cube.

Hope this rambling note helps.

Thank you very much guys!

I actually use slightly different builds for speed farming and for GR. I haven’t pushed GR very high yet, up to GR79 i guess, but i did it pretty fast, so there is still room for improvement.

I will try to adjust my build towards tankiness for the time being. Farming on T13 just seems wrong seeing how i can kill stuff fast enough on T16 .

I have to work a bit on my gems, both normal and legendaries. I wonder if i should cube a Broken Crown and farm some lower level bounties for the normal gems?

I’d love to have some build that would faceroll T16 using Sage set, to farm DB’s faster. Does it even exist?

For lower content I don’t use Trapped gem and I don’t use Cull of the Weak:

  • both need Thrill of the Hunt to proc
  • both does not work on first hit

For lower content is better:
Gems: Zeis, Boon of the Hoarder and Molten or Powerfull
Powerfull + Steady Aim (for lower content I use Ambush prior of Steady aim, Steady aim only if I use both) is much better for lower content than Trapped + Thrill of the Hunt (especially with lower leveled Trapped).

Trapped gem I am using around GR105+ when I want slow from Thrill of the Hunt to defense purpose (and not only to proc Trapped). On GR105+ I switch to Zeis, Trapped, Molten.

I recommended to use Molten. If you are not able to have 95%+ uptime on Squrit, than use Molten.
Molten is good even for good players. It allow to play much more aggresive without lose Squit’s buff.

Those are good recommendations Miok.

Using the Goldwrap speed build listed above, we use Multishot Windchill. Windchill procs Thril and Cull of the Weak.

One advantage of trapped over Powerful in a Goldwrap build is that Trapped is always up. Advantage of Powerful over Trapped is the elite damage given/taken buff. Either gem will help you kill beasties.

This is one of the really nice things about UE, it really isn’t a cookie cutter build. Lots of way to effectively run the build.

You are right with cold var. I automaticaly thing about fire which I play. I like that rocket kill mobs behind me and more dmg on elites.

And I stoped playing Windchill when I last tested in high speed GR and compare with arsenal (statistics over 100+ of same lvl GR) and had a little bit better times with arsenal.
In new ERA I have not played higher GR and thats way I have best GR101 with time 1:33. That is not bad high speed GR.
