Can it be done? Hydras release Frost Novas with Magistrate. Rimeheart and Manald Heal would make Lightning Hydras work?
Typhon’s set only buffs the damage of hydras, not item procs like Manald Heal. Even if those procs are triggered by hydras.
There’s no point including Manald Heal with Typhon’s, because it will do literally no damage.
Aside from the Manald Heal bit yes it can be done, it won’t push far, but it’s great for speeds. It’s my fav build for Typhon. It’s also required for that one bounty where the moss stuff on the walls cannot be hit by any other hydra type. Rather than Manald I would suggest Stone of Jordan for bonus Elem damage.
10000% Weapon damage as Cold and 14000% Weapon damage as Lightning is no damage?
Not when they aren’t buffed by the 40,000% damage multiplier on Typhon’s 6p, the 300% damage multiplier from Serpent’s Sparker, the 300% damage multiplier from Fragment of Destiny, the 300% damage multiplier from Magistrate, and the 150% damage multiplier from Winter Flurry, no.
Hydra attacks get an additional 401*4*4*4*2.5 = 64,160x damage multiplier that Manald Heal does not.
255% weapon damage * 64160 >>> 14000% weapon damage
Then it sounds like joker devs forgot to buff Manald and Rime up to par with the rest.
Depends on how you look at it. They did not forget to do that, it’s more that there’s no point in buffing them. There would be no end to it. The issue is caused by fundamental design flaws of all those “deals X% weapon damage” legendaries, including several legendary gems. Not a single one of these will scale except for obvious all damage increase buffs or specific elemental damage % effects. Some work up to a certain point and once you rech that ceiling they only clutter the item pool.
At one point these kind of items were usable (well, except some that have always been garbage… but nevertheless). Best example would be Manald Heal… worked pretty nice e.g. with Lightning Hydras. But the moment our damage became more and more dependant on skill focussed legendaries, all these items lost their meaning.
The only way to make them work is through excessive triggering at a high attack rate. Sadly, in most cases their design works against this… just look at Rimeheart, a prime example of failed design. This item has a chance to proc AND is crippled by an internal cooldown on top of that. No way in hell this kinda of crap works in the current gameplay.
That remains true even if you scale up the damage proc from 10.000 % to something utterly ridiculous like 100.000.000.000 %… the design is still rotten to the core. Only shows that these kind of items need a complete overhaul altogether. All these effects need to be axed and should then be replaced by scaling mechanics.
Or something like a damage repeater. For Rimeheart it could be…
Increases cold damage dealt by 85-100%. Attacking a Frozen or Chilled enemy with a Cold skill has a chance to shatter the target, repeating your damage dealt [N] times.
Thematically fitting and it scales well enough to be useful.
Yes I noticed this games base design was flawed. Game lacked good and fun Lightning and Fire builds for years and they finally added better Fire build and its ridiculous.
And since they just announced that D4 will have ONLY FIVE ARMOR SLOTS I already know im not the target audience. PoE2 it is then.
