Trust Level 0 able to link pages on the forums?

Did the rules change regarding Trust Level permissions?

This post for reference: Undead bonus on maces not calculating

User is TL0, but linked to Reddit, essentially embedding an image in the forums. Is this normal?

I’m Trust Level 0 on the D2:R Forums and couldn’t embed images a few days ago. I would think they work the same on all Blizzard Forums.

I guess I’ll have to start a “Perusoe’s D2:R Testing Grounds” and check it out.

That post was from the D3 forums, not D2R.

But, it’s still Blizzard’s Forums. I’m TL0 on the D3 Europe Forums too.

By the way, the thread you linked: The OP linked their Reddit post and not an actual image. That might have something to do with it.

Unless I am missing something, you would need to be at least TL2 to create links to trusted sites.

I don’t know then.

I am TL0 on this account, and I am not even able to quote his post because it says I do not have permission to post media.

In the next post is a screenshot of me attempting to quote him on this account.

However, when I post the Link directly, I am allowed to post it.

MeteorBlade,

Can you try quoting the user from the thread linked above to see if you get the same results?

I’m Trust Level 1 on the D3 Europe forums. I just tried to embed an image and failed.

I’m TL2 on the US forums, and when I tried quoting it, I got the same result as VitaKaninen did, i.e. that I can’t embed media in a post.

However, what’s actually in the original post of that thread is…

https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo_2_Resurrected/comments/q01287/50_to_undead_on_maces_not_being_calculated/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

But when it’s quoted, that’s turned into

![|531x500](https://external-preview.redd.it/BlUYIhMcpaW12UHGMT__PILucQ1tC3CPnkq7t7f9TWE.jpg?auto=webp&s=2acc26e32b1c30ab00538132af6845b9eac8db01)

Note that they’re not pointing to the same target domain. As people without TL3 can embed links to Reddit, I suspect the reason it worked is because the Reddit domain is on a whitelist whereas external-preview.redd.it is not.

Let’s test that with me posting this…

https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo_2_Resurrected/comments/q01287/50_to_undead_on_maces_not_being_calculated

https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo_2_Resurrected/comments/q01287/50_to_undead_on_maces_not_being_calculated

So, confirmed, it’s that the main Reddit domain is whitelisted, but the domain the previews are on is not.

So, that makes sense, but then that brings up even more questions.

If the redd.it domain is not whitelisted, then why does this forum automatically embed the images from a non-whitelisted Domain?

Why is a TL0 allowed to post links at all? Aren’t you required to be TL2 in order to post links to any domain, whitelisted or not?

Perhaps the Forum Guide by WyomingMyst needs to be updated?

Also, it seems that ANY user can bypass the Trust Level requirements completely and embed images on these forums by simply using Reddit as a hosting site. So what is the point of having trust levels at all?

At least now you won’t have to ask a TL3 to embed images for you if you make a Reddit post first, and then just post a link to Reddit. But it still doesn’t seem like intended behavior since it negates the whole TL system.

There are many things in that guide that are no longer correct and haven’t been for months / over a year.

It could be your browser is rendering the preview not the forum itself.

I’m OP, and I will say my account is over 15 years old and may hold deeper user perrmission inheriteance no longer visible on these new style forums.

Also when I try to create this page on the d2r GD forums it states to me I need to own the game to post, but clearly do so in the logged in account.
