Another thought, make Holy Point Shot or Karlei’s Point part of the Shadow Mantle set. This will open up more diversity in the build with the cube and worn items.
Another thought on the Shadow damage bonus with piercing: instead of only the first enemy getting the full damage and then no bonus after the pierce, reduce the set bonus damage by a fraction after passing through each enemy, maybe 1/3 or 1/2. This will extend the damage range beyond just 1 to 3 monsters on each shot at higher levels.
As a Shadow DH main, I support any potential buffs that are hopefully coming with the next patch for s21, but I would say that a change in legendary power bonus to HPS is prob lowest on my list of potential ways to increase the build’s power.
HPS is absolutely brutal to farm/reroll because of the necessary elemental damage required to roll on top of getting proper crit and impale % bonuses rolled as well. Any change to HPS would make all existing quivers basically useless. Literal RNG nightmare.
Even increasing the legendary bonus on Karlei’s would be preferable since it’s relatively easy to craft daggers in the cube at least.
Can you plz allow this simple build to keep how simple it is? Just buff Karlei’s Point or Shadow 6 set damage is good enough.
It’s already difficult enough to get a good Holy Point Shot, and adding a variable in its effect will make it a bot-only item.
I adore Impale. The problem is that it is, by nature, a single target build that struggles with trash.
If you bring up its trash clearing, its uniqueness is gone and it is overpowered.
If you buff its damage but leave the concept, you create the best RG killer for 4man.
Same reason why UE Multishot is hard to balance: how do you buff the best speed build without disincentivizing other builds?
Agreed! I really hope blizz does see this and actually take actions to produce something similar. I would also like to see Impale DH to be buffed, it needs a little something to be able to compete with other RGKs.
They also need to buff UE multishot to be more trash killer too.
Something tells me all they will do is produce the new set with changes ONLY for that new set without maknig any balance changes to any other item/sets. That would be so uncool.
I think giving it a stacking option (like sader shield or necro bone ringer) is a good idea. It’ll make it viable as an RGK for meta.
Right now, DH leaderboard is fantastic. Obviously way behind the other classes, but check the first 50 from Barb, and now first 50 from DH.
Could just make hps always roll impale and/or crit. Would take a lot of that issue away but not make the first ancient GG
Not my point. I’ve admitted that DH is way behind pretty much everyone else (“Way behind the other classes”). What I mean is that DH has a very cool thing that no other class has: you can pick your DH, create your own build, and make to the DH leaderboards with a “play your way” style, because everything works, it’s the best balance inside a class I’ve ever seen in this game and pretty much everywhere. You can’t do that with a Barb, because what you need to do in order to get to Barb leaderboards is set in stone: choose Wastes set or you’re auto-boycotting yourself, even every extra legendary, every gem, and every stat reroll is also set in stone.
As I’ve previously said, it has the downside of 4-mans and so on, but buffing a specific thing inside DH could break what’s the richest class build-wise right now.
One thing they should do is get rid of all the crap on the Holy Point Shot. That build will never ever use. I’m really going to use Multishot, Sentry, Strafe, or Evasive fire. All that increases damage crap you never ever use. That will help to get a better stat that you can really use.
What about giving Holy Point Shot a second effect, to pull enemy close together. Since you all complain about how DH is such a trash at clearing trash. This way AD will be much more useful than before.
Another nice change is that % elemental damage on HPS can be rerolled instead of being locked by RNG goddess.
I like the idea of the stacking damage to allow this build the ability to become a viable RGK. We could also buff the belt with say a 150-200% dmg boost. I suspect though with S21, DH will definately be getting some buffs and hopefully multishot and impale should be much better. It might be nearly time for gems to get a boost as well. If we had one more upgrade (3xflawless) to make it say 400 main stat or 110 AR it would go a long way to boost toughness.
The only change to HPS I can think of that wouldn’t do this is for Impale to gain all runes… this would make it easier to pick an element to use as you’d just find a HPS with good stats and then stack the element that it rolled.
Not sure how Overpenetration and Ricochet would work together though. Grievous Woulds would be an interesting damage buff.
That 2pc could do with a buff to make using Chakram or grenades with S6 more viable.
So when did it not become part of the set? If you don’t use those two the set is really useless.
??? I don’t understand what you are talking about. I have 2 accounts and have been using shadow build from day one. I have no problem blowing through or killing the trash.
Make one a part of the set, literally, as in set bonuses, being green, etc.
It already has something on a it when you have a six pieces set.
Impale deals an additions 75,000% weapon damage to the 1st enemy hit.
I don’t understand what else you want them to add. Yes I agree this set is behind some of the other builds out there.
I have on my non-season account a DH that has 11 Primal out of 13 pieces. If the make changes to the weapon or the sets on the shadow & Unhallowed set.
Like they did a few years ago. What now we just savage them like we did before and start over again?
One other thing they should fix the 4 pieces set. Shadow power gains the effect of every rune and last for ever. I don’t think it does. Because if did we would have strongest DH in the land that would never die.
But like somebody said one time they are only sheet #'s and they really don’t work it says it does.
It wasn’t a suggestion to add more set bonuses… It was a suggestion to include either Karlei’s point or Holy Point Shot to the Shadow Mantle set, that’s it. Either would become a 7th piece of the set, which would give the set more diversity with other pieces of gear. No extra set bonuses.
