Here is week 9’s update, the last one for me.
Again, a full slate of numbers for all sets, plus some numbers comparing the peak clears of Season 28 with those in State of Set, which sheds some light on the gains brought by the Altar.

The spreadsheet showing all the tracked weeks is here.
Once again, this week showed some significant improvements for bad sets:
- Jade Harvester went from 144.2 → 150.6, a 6.4 tier gain.
- Roland went from 140.8 → 143.9, a 3.1 tier gain.
There were a few minor ups and downs across the board:
- Zunimassa went from 151.5 → 152.1, a 0.6 tier gain.
- GoD went from 151.8 → 152.8, a 1.0 tier gain.
- Unhallowed went from 152.8 → 153.6, a 0.8 tier gain.
- Marauder went from 157.2 → 157.9, a 0.7 tier gain (taking 6th from Natalya)
- No Set Wizard went from 158.1 → 158.3, a 0.2 tier gain.
- No Set Crusader went from 153.4 → 153.1, a 0.3 tier loss.
The builds making up the top 10 didn’t change: 3 for Wizard, 3 for Necro, 2 for DH, 1 for Barb, 1 for Monk, with WD and Crusader shut out.
There are now only 3 sets remaining that haven’t hit 150: No Set DH, Roland, and Pestilence.
That’s pretty much it for the weekly numbers. Now, on to the comparison of Season 28 vs State of Set:

If you want to look at these numbers in a more proper spreadsheet, it can be found here.
So: what is this, and what does it show?
Well, most of it is pretty self-explanatory, but here’s a breakdown:
- First column shows the Set in question.
- Second Column shows the Peak Adjusted Clear from State of Set.
- Third Column shows the Peak Adjusted Clear from Season 28.
- Fourth Column shows the difference (generally a gain) in Season 28 clears, compared to those in State of Set.
- Fifth Column shows the Peak Clears of Season 28, minus the average gain of the Altar (more about this shortly). In other words, this put the S28 clears back into the same “ballpark” as State of Set.
- Sixth Column shows the difference between those numbers in the Fifth Column, and those in State of Set. This basically shows how far off these Season 28 clears are from what you’d expect to see, based on the Non-Seasonal clears, with the power of the Altar added on top.
Below this are some numbers that look at the Average gain that sets get from the Altar:
- “Average gain overall” just takes the average value of all the numbers in the 4th column.
- “Average gain Best / Reworked / S” takes the average value of the 4th column numbers coming from a set that is either S-tier (can clear Adjusted 150.0 in Non-Season), recently Reworked (i.e. Unhallowed, H90, etc), or the best set for a class (Arachyr). I figured these would be the sets that got the most play this Season, so I wanted to look at this set of numbers.
- “Average gain Best / S” is the same as the one above, except it pulls out the Reworked builds. So it just looks at the strongest builds for all classes.
- “Average gain dumpster fire” looks at the average gain to the 8 sets that appear in the bottom 10 for both State of Set and Season 28: Seeker, Roland, DH No Set, Raiment, Pestilence, Helltooth, Jade, WD No Set. The worst of the worst, in other words.
- “Average of Averages” takes the average of the four other averages.
Finally, the “Average” shown at the bottom right of the table gives the average value of all the numbers in the Sixth Column. In other words, it shows how far off, on average, the full slate of Season 28 numbers are from those in State of Set, based on the gains you would expect to see from the Altar.
Some takeaways:
You can see that no matter which system you use to determine the average gain from the Altar, it falls within a fairly narrow range: +7.2 tiers minimum (for “Best / S”), and +8.6 tiers maximum (for “dumpster fire” builds). In Column 5, which subtracts the “Average Altar” value from the S28 clears, I use the “Average of Averages” value (+7.9 tiers). If you prefer one of the other values for Average, just mentally tweak the numbers up or down a half-tier or so.
The “Average” value at the bottom right is really small (just -0.2), meaning that overall, the clears from State of Set and those from Season 28 are tracking quite closely together, with the “offset” being very close to the actual value of the Altar. My read on this is: this system works really well. Even better than I expected it to, frankly.
That’s all, folks! I hope you found this interesting and informative.
