To use the Challenge Rift Cache or not that is the?

I really don’t know what I’m going to do if I use it I only get to open 14 nodes at Altar of Rites till the next Tuesday but if I don’t use it I can by Sunday have all if not most of the 26 nodes unlocked

I will use the first one on Friday for No lvl Req and have the second one early next week.
I do not need to blow through everything in the first weekend of a 4 month season.

Simple:

If you’re in doubt at all, use the cache.

Use the cache. It will make leveling a lot more fun and for 90% of players, you won’t even need the one for sacrifice by the time you can get another. Just don’t accidentally open the one you get next week.

I think I’ll save mine and level up without a cache. It really doesn’t matter in the scheme of things. This season will probably last 6 months so what happens this weekend will become irrelevant.

Others have already stated most of my reasons above. I’m using it.

If you’re after a personal challenge, that’s fine to save it. Or if you’re going to play the weekend hard and put in 20+ hours, it’s understandable. I just personally feel most people won’t get to a point this weekend where there’s any noticeable advantage to saving it. (Either they won’t put in enough hours, or something like the gift or scream will stop them).

In one of his latest videos he gives some advice on starting without spending the cache.

That is IF you’re lucky enough to find a Ramaladni’s and a Petrified Scream before that.

What convinced me to use it was, easier start.
And on top of that, while I could have unlocked the 15 node, I can spend the time before tuesday to farm up for the rest of the nodes

The downside is… none. CR caches can be obtained once per week. The only minor swing con is that the node unlock occurs on another day and not day 0-3. OMG, so slooooow. Season will last longer than a week.

Upside is… easier season start, like it has always been. In fact, even easier with the ability to unlock other, arguably more useful, nodes sooner.

Seems the “use it” choice outweighs the “don’t use it” unless you just must have the entire season done in less time it takes to hand craft a pizza from scratch, cheese included.

If you use the cache - you will be lvl 70 in roughly 1 hour if you know what you do.
Without the cache you will be lvl 70 in roughly 3 hours if you know what you do.
All of this is if you play solo.

There is a way to get 1 Death Breath and get you blacksmith to lvl 12 without using cache - complete all bounties on T1 in Act 4 if there are no boss bounty. You can do it by lvl 1 character, not walk in the park but very doable. I did it on PTR with DH.
You can use some tricks to make it easier - create T1 game by lvl 1 character, then join by your main character which should be at least 5 levels higher - this way mobs will be still lvl 1 and will not adjust to your main character level, when lvl 1 character leave the game.

Plus with the materials from the CR cache, you will save another round of bounties before you unlock the double cache node. All in all, so many benefits for using it over saving it. You will mostly be unlocking less interesting/powerful/useful nodes anyway.

Wasn’t people suggesting doing act 2?

Easy answer is “are you going to spend 10+ hours a day playing?”

if yes, don’t use cache
if no, use cache

I’ll use mine for sure, be blasting at level 70 1 hour after season start is what I want

Also to add, when leveling normal I am usually tired once I reach 70 a couple of hours after launches and log out for the rest of the evening, opening the cache this time around will keep me in “grind” mode!

using mine. its still going to be a grind to get to the node where you need the cache. i definitely wont have all them open by Monday or Tuesday

Any act works. It’s just that Act 2 has two close and easy bosses (Zoltun Kulle + Maghda). You kill them, you don’t open the chest until 18, but do bounties instead, and when you come back, that’s one of the diamonds (hopefully) out of the way.

But people have been taking suggestions of what act to complete as if they were the only act which dropped Death’s Breath.

I mean, you could always just blast your way to 18 as quickly as possible as a Necro, and do a T2/T3 bounty with your real class afterwards, and should get you the necessary gold to jump immediately into a Level 70 weapon, rather than having to craft a 58-60 intermediate weapon.

It’s hard to judge what’s faster, because the PTR isn’t helpful when it comes to practicing leveling, and the lack of double massacres could also make one approach pre-season to seem like it’s faster, when with double massacres it would be faster.

In the end though, we’re talking about minutes here. If you’re saving your cache, leveling up in 100 minutes vs 110 minutes isn’t that big of a deal.

Act 4 has some dangerous enemies, especially once you get to level 10+. Sure, you can avoid the boss by getting a game without an act 4 boss bounty, but it still gets dangerous.

I guess the idea with Act 2 is it has safer enemies at level 10+ as you are doing the last couple bounties? You do the boss first right at level 1. Both Kulle and Maghda aren’t too bad to kill at level 1 in T1, you can kill their minions and use the level up explosion to do some good damage to them, then finish them off. I’d leave and remake the game if you get Belial or Vidian.

Well, you snapshot the entire zone of a couple bounties, so the enemies stay level 1. You can easily survive T1 if you’re constantly moving forward. Once you reach Level 5, the enemies become a joke. But you’re spending maybe 5-10 minutes prepping zones.

I guess, but then you have to run a good portion of the zone right? If you just zone to the waypoint, you’ll snapshot the area around the waypoint, plus potentially the bounty target unique and whatever enemies are near them, but the rest of the zone would still be higher level enemies?

Or is the idea to run most of the zone to snapshot the whole thing? That sounds really tedious, but I suppose if you’re going to do that, Act 4 should be a valid choice.
