I historically like SSF because I feel like it’s easier for me to compete. Although sometimes I’m in the top 10 of crusader and look and there is only 25 Crusaders on the entire Leaderboard.
________
Do players still do META groups like with a Zbarb? I don’t want to compete with those players on the solo leader board
_________
Also I want to sometimes group up. And it seems like there’s a lot of leeches. Because sometimes I want to group up but not play Zbarb or ZDH which I almost always get pinned into playing because 1. I know how to gear a Zdps, and 2. I am usually low paragon.
I remember when I finally got to join the Demon Hunter clan Prime Assassins, this was way back in the day, I was forced to play Zbarb. I don’t like that and it left a sour taste in my mouth, because I wanted to be a part of the DH brotherhood.
…
I’ll probably just go SSF again. I do want to mostly solo so I can pause, it just sounds nice to sometimes group up. Just not play a Zdps.
Because of how the game is designed and Blizz’s lack of TOS enforcement, this is always going to be the case.
Well, good news. the meta usually has a zDH in it.
I rarely play meta because I hate playing a z. Will only do it for friends, maybe.
Here is a fun meta story. Early in D3, a couple of seasons after Primals were introduce, I had several in my group of friends beg me to play Zbarb. I HATE playing barb much less a Zbarb. I grinded a bunch of DH mostly solo because there was no DH in meta. Found zero Primals. My friends kept begging, so I broke down and made a stupid Zbarb. Like 2nd or 3rd GR, got a Primal drop for the stupid barb. Logged out immediately and didn’t come back until the next season started.
Just play with friends, some nooby randos, or run Visions for group play. If you want to do anything serious, bow to the meta.
4p exp bonuses and meta grinding become counterproductive because they rush you past 2k paragon, which means you may not have enough time to lock-in fully augmented BiS gear before making your clear.
If you are simply looking to play S40 for a couple of weeks time, keeping an eye on the casual leaderboards compliments this level of commitment.
And in META groups they just salvage all their items. I personally look at every single item, because I feel like every item can be used for something. For instance a META 4p group will salvage 100% of Halcyon’s Ascent, and for me it could roll with Fire, Crit, Crit, Socket, which could be used for a Multishot DH etc. That’s just me. For instance I don’t like running Squirt’s, and I’m not gonna “pull a Ghost” and ask for Squirt’s to be removed like how he hates COE, still not using it opens up any amulet can be used. And that’s just one example.
Don’t get me wrong I’m still pretty quick at salvaging, I just might stash some items to look at under a microscope for later.
Another example is rocking some quad-fecta gloves that are non ancient lol. I just like to flex items like that. Attack Speed, Crit, Crit, CDR. those types of items are insta salvaged by these type of players. It’s not ancient, and it just looks cool on your character sheet lol.
