Playing solo crusader. I can’t seem to complete this challenge.
Do I just run around and kill elites and ignore everything else?

I personally go for WoL Monk or Multishot DH for that hitting-as-many-creeps-as-possible.
That’s why I level 2 toons in season now. One for speedfarming/season objective-clearing & one for set dungeon.
You need to kill packs of whites to move the rift progression bar as well and not just rely on elites and personally I would use nemesis bracers to pop a elite mob at pylons
You need a speed farming build for your class that can kill as fast as you move. Make use of a leveled Boon of the Hoarder gold gem/Goldwrap belt combo for unlimited armor / movement speed. Wear Nemesis Bracers to spawn shrine elites for extra progression. Level your legendary gems as high as possible and make use of skills and passives that boost Movement Speed.
The key to finishing as fast as possible is to start the rift, go on the killing spree killing everything, don’t pick up anything, kill the Rift Guardian, teleport back to town during the death animation to close the rift, and then as its closing, go back to pick up drops. You may need to fish for an open map like Northern/Southern Highlands or Briarthorne Cementary where there is huge density mobs, lots of elites and shrines.
Google for class specific speed builds to meet your class.
I’d recommend the Fear Condemn Crusader speed build for your case (Capt America is too slow) … My non-season Toon Minniva is sporting that build … and is capable of < 3 min NRs.
WoL Monk, MultiShot Demon Hunter, Lazy Inarius Necro, Charge or WW Barb, Meteor Wiz are also clear contenders.
Got that. Movement speed, ignore drops, kill everything.
The timer starts as soon as the obelisk portal opens and does not stop until you speak to the NPC in town to close it, i.e. timer does not stop when the guardian dies.
Also, this doesn’t have to be done solo, so join a public rift group and hope that there are some speedrunners in there with you. When you see the chat say the guardian’s spawned, teleport back to town and click on the NPC as soon as the guardian dies. You can teleport to the player that killed it by clicking on their banner in town and collect the guardian loot.
Some of it is also RNG to get a small, densely packed rift, such as the cemetery tiles. I struggled with my DH until I hit on those tiles. Then it was a piece of cake. Don’t stop to loot anything, just kill and move on. When the guardian is dead, teleport back to town and talk to the NPC in town. Don’t dawdle.
Well that’s handy to know, I always assumed the timer started when you entered the rift
I got the Eternal Woods rift with elites everywhere. It was my first try
I also would recommend doing these timed rifts in public games. Especially, if you’re playing with a non-speed or otherwise less suitable build for nephalem rifts.
I personally am almost exclusively solo player but doing these timed rifts in public games is generally much simpler and quicker way to cross them off from the list. Then I go back doing everything else solo.
Yes, I am a solo player. As much as I would like to get the easy accomplishment, I’d feel much better if I accomplish this solo. I’ll only resort to pub if I really can’t complete this and the season is about to end.
If you are intent on completing the season journey, then you might want to think about building an Unhallowed Essence multishot DH. They work very well in doing these timed Nephalem Rifts.
Keep in mind that this timed rift is easy. For Conqueror, you need to do a T13 rift in 5 minutes, and for Guardian you need to do a T13 rift in 4 minutes. So if you are struggling now, those are going to be real fun. Those are easy to do solo with a MS DH.
And as mentioned, getting a good map is paramount. Some maps are almost custom-made for these objectives.
Here is a video showing how quickly a DH can finish a rift:

I have leveled all classes to 70 so I probably only need the gear for the DH build. It was my understanding that season challenges are only completed on the character you are playing on. So, if I try to complete it on a DH, it won’t appear complete on my crusader.
There is only one Season Journey per season (per account or region). It doesn’t matter which character completes an objective. Once an objective is completed, it is completed for the entire season, regardless of which character does it.
The only issue comes with the Haedrig’s Gifts when you play Hardcore and Normal modes. Since you only get one set of Gifts per season, you need to be careful which character completes the second to fourth chapters. So for example, if you have a hardcore character complete all but one objective of a chapter, then switch to a normal character to complete the last objective, it will be the normal character that earns the Haedrig’s Gift for that chapter. And since Normal and Hardcore items cannot be mixed, your Hardcore character cannot use that Gift.
This isn’t an issue when only playing Normal or only playing Hardcore, because the Gifts can be used by any character in the same mode, and the items that drop will be tailored for whichever character opens the Gift.
And here I was trying to complete the speed run objective on a stupid slow crusader build.
I know you are a solo player but I would consider playing in a group for this achievement. It works really well and you can just knock it out. Obviously ignore all the goodies that drop.
It would feel so good if I can achieve this solo. That would be one achievement I could enjoy in this game.
Your other Heroes may be faster, but they probably wouldn’t survive a Rift at that level.
There was a good suggestion in your other thread to use the Steed Charge flail/shield with in-geom in the cube. Your Crusader might be fast enough then.
I play Demon Hunters Solo exclusively these days. No matter which free Season Set I get, I collect a Marauder’s Set and an Unhallowed Set. I use Marauder’s for the Set Dungeon Master Tier. I use Unhallowed for everything else. When you’re ready to run a timed Nephalem Rift, keep in mind that the timer starts as soon as the Portal opens, as others have stated.
Again, the timer starts as soon as the Rift Portal opens. The timer does not end until you see this:

Find a public rift with a strong UE and you’ll get it in no time. When I was gearing up my friends at start of season on T16 with my ue, everyone of them got the 4 min t13 achieve clicked off at low paragon .
