Time to talk about Fire Ally

I’ve been sitting here trying to test if Area Damage works for the Mystic Ally Activation - because Mystic Ally % does not increase it and I am realizing one very apparent fact…

Fire Allies are atrocious to use -

  1. Area Damage does not work on activation
  2. Mystic Ally % does not work on activation
  3. (This is the big one) Fire Ally has collision with mobs they cannot move through and they will target mobs that are even outside of your cyclone range quite frequently…

Now what happens when you go to activate Fire Ally inside of a big pull (cause you want a lot of assimilation stacks) If they are targeted to a mob they cannot reach they DO NOT EXPLODE

Either make Fire Ally passable through enemies or make water ally the main attack cause this is horrendous

Anyone whos played Fire Ally can tell you that the damage is very inconsistent… sometimes you melt an elite in 1 but then the next it seems like you didnt have any damage bonuses but that is because of the Fire Ally not being able to attack the mob it has targeted.

honorary ‘4.’ - they target mobs outside of leash range and outside of cyclone range even when you are still… which makes very little sense.

PLEASE ADDRESS THIS – RNG already dictates how good the rift layout is the pylons and the mob type we dont need it addressing whether or not you do damage… especially when there’s no work around… Illusory boots do not work for allies.

[edit]
Right now I am uploading a video of it not working the first try … (I had made a longer video where 3/5 failed but I thought turning off IGSL’s stream would fix audio it didnt) so this is unpaused and first try after and fail

I dont know why but nvidia capture’s sound was making static so mute the video

[edit]

here is link to Video I may need a CM to make it work I dunno if I have permissions

This makes the build extremely unfun to play in gr150, where it would be otherwise very easy to clear if that wasn’t the case.

Water Ally is the best still.

I mean I played a lot of water ally – since this update water ally is nowhere near the level of fire ally as far as pushing capabilities - But I will agree it is much more fun.

Notes on Fire Ally-

Fire Ally

Passive Attack

  • Main Hand only
  • Procs Area Damage
  • Mystic Ally % works
  • Scales with Attack Speed

Active Attack

  • Alternates Hands
  • Does not Proc Area Damage
  • Mystic Ally % does not work
  • Scales with Attack Speed

(Obvious Inconsistencies)

Notes

  • Has Collision (cannot move thru enemies) but also with its own allies (mini-lies wont explode if they are blocked by other mini-lies)
  • Targets mobs anywhere on screen sometimes seemingly very random
  • (opinion) Feels very clunky compared to Water Ally and previous variants of Inna’s Pet builds
  • (on new Inna’s 6 Set) you still get a bit of spirit dump but you dont get health globe filled on activation (unfortunately)

also found a weird little bug imgur. com/QjhpAW3 [ it literally wont let me link imgur but I can link youtube ?? ] see even the game wants me playing water ally :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I totally agree, and I am utterly disappointed that they bind the build for only one rune. What is that? Forcing to use only 1 rune?

I really hope they change the bracer to all activated ally take x5 this bonus instead of split fire ally.

Or they can close the gap between the runes and buff WOL back a little by changing:

You mystic ally deal 500% more damage and fire ally deal x2 this effect.

So before water and other has a x3 buff and fire x(2x5+1)= x11 buff.
Now the fire is still x11 buff but you have x6 buff to water, together water is working with area damage and skill damage, they should be very viable for pushing as well

Joa.

Even if its sometimes a bit frustrating, if you activate them right at the start of cold … and one second later, you see 8 guys running around and only 2 are in wave-mode

maybe thats on me, for still doing my tr-stuff and i have to many hits, so i replace them before theyr time is off
nontheless its extremly frustrating.

Another problem with fire allies is that their explosion radius is too narrow imo.
This + collisions problem + dumb AI + no way to target a specific monster make the build very frustrating and inconsistent. For example, when you are fighting with illusionnists, you have to rely on luck for your allies to hit the right(s) target(s), even when you know where the real monster(s) is/are.

I totally agree that water allies are a lot of funs. I think it’s ok that fire allies are the best for pushing, but I hope they’ll buff water allies so they can at least be a very good option for speed GRs.

Earth allies seems totally useless either for pushing or for speeds, they do very low damage, are very slow, and rarely hits the monsters you want to kill.

Another problem with new inna set is that they don’t benefit much from ethereals.

Esp the Daibo feels bad.
No matter how you look at him. ETH or Shenlong … Why overhowl the Set, if the Daibo is excluded right from the Start, because he falls short.

agree … that is one of the things I never liked about the loot system changes after the first few months of RoS every build started to become dictated what we needed to play… they fixed part of this by taking away a lot of the +(skill) % on items on the item moving them to legendary powers helps so you can at least have that in the cube and wear an item you might need to have on like a set item but even then compared to vanilla – which may have been a lil too open, but I liked that … its still pretty set

I feel like if they had someone who played like I used to play every set would be somewhat viable… I remember one season maybe 9 where literally Inna’s Palm, Raiment, Wave of Light SWK, and Ulianna’s were all viable its just kinda rare for that especially on other classes.

Also why does monk never get to be powerful like was Wave of Light before this recent PTR update stronger than Firebirds?
