This is the worst PTR I've ever played!

Some forgot the main goal of a PTR… Not just be full primal in few minutes and complain here to cry how their build are…

I agree. Should have been a fresh start, with the option to import your characters with all the paragon points and loots. Honestly, I would have done both. That would have extended my PTR play. As it is now, I am already bored with it. As Strix said, the part about of this PTR is about Mac executables, don’t care about another things… If you don’t play on Mac… Just leave or enjoyed a useless PTR. Kind of like Disney (including Marvel and Star Wars) tv shows and movies. The target audience is the lowest percent. Who cares about the majority.

I’ve gotten it to work, by selecting Solo Mode, but I’m not sure that will work for the players that already play solo.

I agree. There’s no incentive to play PTR for more than a few hours. The game and seasonal theme are not being properly tested because most everyone is just doing PTR copy, over to seasonal content.

First, I already said that I don’t own a Mac and nor do I care about Mac users. So, there’s nothing for me to test.

And even if there it was something to test, it’s my OWN CHOICE to test it or not. I’ve bought the game with my own money and I’m NOT a Blizzard employee, so I do whatever the hell I want… :smiley:

No, you won’t. You’ll do whatever Blizz allows you to do via the ToS / EULA that you agree to before even starting up Bnet, let alone the game executable that they conditionally grant temporary access to you based on continued adherence to legally binding protocol.

That’s cos Blizzard doesn’t give a flying F about us. We’re customers too, and we paid money for the game - typically more money than PC players paid too I might add. That makes us bigger customers.

They actually do. They want to make sure that the new executables are working properly for cross platform play as well as testing native functionality.

What you’re missing is that you’re not the bigger customer, more the bigger cash cow. :cow: It must sting knowing you’re nothing more than a revenue stream.

Honestly, mate, your ability to make everything about you no matter how irrelevant you are is less Blizzard’s fault and more about incredible narcissism.

For the console versions of the game, Blizzard are governed by the processes Sony and MS put in place which includes those companies conducting their own QA before any patches get rolled out. It’s a lot of red tape for a PTR from what I’ve read from (apparently) Sony/MS staff who have experience on this stuff, the turn around is long for a non-critical deployment which is why you don’t see PTRs on consoles. Blizzard uses what it learns from the PC PTR (where they have control over speed of deployment).

As for this actual PTR’s content, it’s aimed firstly at Mac users, and secondly to test PC players stability with Mac users and vice versa. I’m a PC user with zero friends on Mac so I’m not bothering with the PTR, I’d have liked some actual content to test… in particular seeing Fissures and the Altar in NS… but alas, not all of us get what we want.

Oh, so console players are just cash cows for Blizzard, and not customers. Got you. That would explain an awful lot (PS I actually figured this out a long time ago without your help mate).

No narcissism. Just criticising a mega filthy rich company where deserved. That’s called “customer feedback”. Look it up.

Not denying that. However, even that process doesn’t stop Blizzard from allowing console players to participate in PTR doesn’t it? Blizzard just doesn’t care. It got our money and is now giving us the finger instead of treating us as valued customers. Meanwhile PC players, who get their bums wiped by Blizzard, moan about the smallest things.

This may well be the last D3 PTR unless they actually do further development.
I find it amusing that some people consider a PTR to be some kind of ‘mini-Season’ to play without testing anything or giving valuable feedback.
I have tested new content in the past, and when I saw what I needed, I left and just followed the Feedback and Bug Reports.
I saw no reason for me to ‘play’ this PTR.
edit: The good news is that Blizzard does not quite consider D3 to be a ‘dead game’ if they are concerned about modern Mac users’ ability to play it.
edit2: Also, interesting that it is coming from Apple’s chief competitor, Microsoft.

What would console players be testing for in a PTR for Mac users? There is nothing to test, so no reason to have console players there. They are doing you a favor not wasting your time.

PC are comingled with Mac users, so they are in the PTR because, as has been shown in the past, they tend to break 3 things for every 1 they fix.

It is funny how many people are bent out of shape because Blizz is treating their Test Realm as a Test Realm for things they want tested.

This PTR is special. Previous PTRs however are atypical for “normal” playing and testing and would be beneficial for console players to have a voice too. But yeah, for this particular PTR, it’s worthless to console players. I was making a generic point and I thought that was obvious!

Well, lets put it this way, assuming coding is done for PC/Mac and console versions at the same time and sent for QA by the time, by the time the PTR is done on PC, console players may have had a day or two of participation if lucky. As I understand, the PC PTR patches typically have a 24hr QA timeframe.

So the other choice is for Blizzard to have the PC version on hold for a week while the console versions go through QA and if there’s mid-PTR patching required, expect to wait a whole extra week before deployment (i.e. at least 2 weeks between patches during the same PTR cycle) and pushing the overall PTR timeframe to 1 month between when the patch is sent to Sony/MS for QA and when the PTR concludes.

Hardly seems worth it when the PC playerbase (and arguably the largest portion of the Diablo player base) is likely sufficient to flesh out the core issues. Not to mention D3 is no longer the flagship title in the franchise so will get subpar support. Not that I agree with it but that’s how commercial decision making goes.

Would be nice if it will happen on the live. Altar+Paragon+Ethereals still alive. Don’t want to start from scratch.

Not unreasonable. There has been times when the CRs weren’t updated for 6+ weeks and Blizzard ignored us…tweets, Facebook, forum posts, emails, the lot. This is before visions, so CRs were a good source of income of mats for us. Meanwhile, when it happened on PC, it was fixed in a matter of a few hours.

So, why can’t console customers be treated as valuable customers instead of trash to milk for easy money? Just cos there’s less of us doesn’t make our consumer rights any lesser.

Sure, for PC. Not all console issues are touched by the PC version of the game.
