This feature saved Diablo Immortal. D4 needs it too

Developer Note: Fishing is our first step towards adding immersive world-based experiences that bring combat-less gameplay with social touches. Our goal was to provide a relaxing activity for Players who have achieved their personal character power goals for the day but aren’t ready to log off—you still want to be part of the world of Sanctuary. There’s a light-touch skill component to catching fish, and you can earn bragging rights for reeling in the biggest fish on Sanctuary.

Hahaha, DI has become so boring that they turned it into a fishing tournament? Nice! :fishing_pole_and_fish:

Many cool games have a fishing feature. The next thing that DI and D4 desperately need is to pet a dog.

Everquest has a pretty good fishing skill. It is mindlessly boring to upgrade your skill to max, but once there, you can fish in high level zones and get rare fish to make some really powerful food that will buff your damage. I don’t know if I want to add food and drink (with brewing skill) as something I need to carry around with me though in D3 or D4.

The Legend of Zelda series has a fishing activity in nearly all its episodes.

D:I players fishing for fish. Blizzard fishing for players.

I’d be fine with fishing, so long as I can occassionally pull up crazed demonic sea beasts that I’d have to fight or otherwise they’ll attack and kill me.

It also adds a leaderboard that the whales can’t dominate. I like the loot we can get with this - anything that can get me additional legendary set items is good in my book. When we reach Hell 8 difficulty next month, I will be able to craft a full set of legendaries.

Sidenote: With the new patch, the freeloaders can now craft unbound legendary gems. D:($) is starting to get an economy.

Finally. No ARPG is complete without a fishing site.

Cool. Most fishing feature we had was Greater Rift fishing back then. It’s the little steps that count. Diablo 4 might benefit from having such mini-games as players would pass some time while awaiting an overworld raid event to recharge.

I wouldn’t say that a simple mini-game “saved” Diablo Immortal though. It sounds like you’re underestimating the other features of D:I. It was built on a solid engine that handle particle physics better and Set items weren’t one dimensional power hogs.

No medieval game with horses is complete without castles and jousting competitions either.

I just hope the D4 devs are paying attention to the update cadence for D:($). Major updates every quarter need to be a thing. Along with adding QoL things on a regular basis - which the D:($) developers are also doing.

Heh, D:I sure keeps… uh, delivering.

In other D:I news, it seems like they added yet another $100,000 P2W progression system to the game.

Well they plan on having 3 month seasons, that adds new features and contents with each one, so in that regard you’ll certainly get your wish.

You must be reading a very different set of patch notes - everything is designed to help the freeloaders, not the whales.

They just added the ability to craft unbound legendary gems for freeloaders; they have also tripled the amount of unbound gems freeloaders can acquire. Every class got another half dozen legendary items (which will change build designs), and a lot of QoL updates that will make my life as a Warband leader and Dark Clan leader so much easier. D:($) still has new zones and classes inbound.

As I said - I hope the D4 developers are paying attention to how the D:($) developers are rolling out updates in response to player feedback.

I hope you are right Oblivion, because the D:($) devs have been a lot more responsive than the D3 devs.

New Normal Gem Attribute
Normal Gems now have a new attribute called Refinement that increases the base attribute of the equipment slot the Normal Gem is socketed into. The increase from Refinement is a fixed percentage based on the rank of the Normal Gem and scales at a fixed percentage as your Normal Gem increases in rank, up to a maximum of Rank 10. Normal Gems of all colors provide the same increase at their respective rank.

Disgusting beyond comprehension

LoL! D4 will not be a mobile game, with the life span of a mobile game. It doesn’t need silly minigames to entertain people.

The title is clickbait. That would be if a whale started today without any normal gems & wanted to max out all 18 normal gem slots (max possible) instantly.

The whales already have all of their normal gems @ rank 10 (max).

Freeloaders are between rank 5 & 7. I am betting each rank gives a 1% increase per rank. So, what would that mean? A 3% - 5% in PvP won’t show, because everything in the BG is nerfed.

Where most of the freeloaders screwed up was going for Damage over everything. They listened to the D:($) YT content creators, rather than building balanced characters, which is what the whales did.

Glass cannons are fine at lower levels, and it does make sense - however, once you reach Hell V difficulty, you need to make your character more balanced. Most of the freeloaders aren’t doing that.

This is why they get destroyed in the battlegrounds. It isn’t just whales that are destroying them - I am 2K Cr & I kill them by the dozens.

The whiners are below server paragon in most (if not all) of their secondary characteristics. This is why they are dying like flies (along with their aggressive unwillingness to learn the victory conditions, and a breathtaking inability to work together as a team to get victories.)
