They always give us an exact date 2 weeks before ends

So what’s going on? It’s not even 3 months. 22 ran 128 days, and 33 isn’t 90 days yet.

People didn’t even have the chance of leveling their Red Soul Shard from the Darkening of Tristram event.
My theories are;

  1. There’s a mistake on communication. Some internal message didn’t go through and they’re pulling the plug without giving out any announcement ahead of its time. In the case there’s a mistake, they could also revert it but no such notice has arrived yet from the Blizzard, so I think it’s all part of something else.
  2. Some other thing going on for them to align the timing of the next Season with something else. Say, another event on some other game has to match with the theme of next Season of Diablo 3, Pandemonium or Crucible, for a synchronization of sorts.
  3. They have found something interesting on their metrics and would like to adjust something on the balance. Maybe now could be a good time to beg them for 10x more power on your favorite build and guise it as “Quality of Life”.
  4. They’re going to add Altar of Rites to the non-Season by the start of next Season but too shy of doing it now. (tinfoil hat)

The following is purely hypothetical.

As others have stated in different threads, let’s say they automated the next 10 seasons from Season 30 onwards. Then, the end of the season would be today.

Now, Season 33 was delayed because it would have conflicted with Diablo 4 Season 6, so they could have manually manipulated the date. But in the manual manipulation, they forgot to change the end dates of Diablo 3 upcoming seasons.

Now, the real question is, how will they deal with it? Will they rollback everything or just accept the season ending today, and start the new season appropriately?

From a pure business standpoint, I’d guess they’d just keep today’s season end.

First, few people were playing the season now.
Second, this way the upcoming season starts on the Darkening of Tristram event.
Third, it aligns Diablo 3’s upcoming seasons to be at least a couple weeks ahead of Diablo 4, so you don’t get Diablo 4 conflict dates in the future.

We just got a Blue post saying that this was an error.
