Why would the Devs do this to us? In order to complete Set Dungeon Mastery for the Monk’s Uliana’s Stratagem set you can’t take any fire damage at all and yet the only way to achieve this is by either slotting or cubing the Star of Azkaranth, the rarest drop in the game!!! Not only the rarest amulet but the rarest item in the entire game.
Since the start of the new season, I’ve been farming frantically for this amulet and spending upwards of 20k in Blood Shards so far with Kadala trying to get the amulet yet I keep getting the same amulets over and over and over again. WHY Blizzard, WHY?!?
You do realise that you can do any set dungeon you like for the season task. There’s absolutely no requirement to do the dungeon that’s associated with the free set you got from the Haedrig’s Gifts. If this one’s being a pain to do, pick any of the other 27. You could, of course, always try not standing in fire grates…
Also, I highly doubt the fireproof necklace is the “rarest item in the whole game!!!``!!1`1111````!!!”
I still have an ancient one sitting in my [Season] stash after having cubed another and salvaged yet 5-6 more. And I barely play compared to most on this site.
Hi…
I have the amulet primal ancient with perfect roll elemental damage chc chd and socket.
I also have primal Maras on barb.
I belive you need to rerll It maybe with others char.
Btw…
There is no especific setup to do bad and stupid content like set dungeon.
The set mastery hoop can be a pain. You’ve already invested a lot more time and effort into this than it should require. What I would suggest is: avoid the sunk cost fallacy and re-evaluate your strategy.
Try doing it without cheesing it with the amulet. You may get it done in 2-3 attempts by just paying attention and not standing in the fire.
Consider using a different set that’s easier to do.
Don’t worry about perfect gear. None of these require T16 capable builds
Lastly, if it’s getting frustrating, set it aside for a while and just grind gear. You’ll need to get legendary gems up to 70 + 1 to 50 for the Caldesan’s upgrade. That takes considerable farm time and should give a nice mental break from frustrating gimmick mechanics in the set dungeons.
A % of fire damage you take turns into life. It means you take the damage, but you take It as life.
These grupo of amulets sepecialy fire and light are always bad rolls, vita, loh, life%, another Very bad thing in game really needed to get fixed, but as always, no one listen. Since no one really cares If amulets and rings never have life, since every zdps player is using an especific amulet.
Yes. How do you have over 3000 D2 posts but don’t have basic game knowledge like this? Do you play the forums but not the game? Just wondering. Don’t you find that boring? Not the first time I’ve seen an honestly surprising lack of knowledge out of you.
I just questioned how do incurring fire damage to absorb it still fits the bill of a Set Dungeon’s objective of not taking fire damage; which I never played before. Ergo, you still take fire damage when you absorb fire damage and it’s clearly asked player to avoid that at the first place rather than being a requirement of finding one amulet to bypass it.
OP spoke of this like it’s a requirement, which I never heard of being a standard for any Set dungeon. He’d absolutely pass that if he were to pay attention and do attempts instead of being stuck on loot hunt.
I know how things work but neither I got surprised with your whimsy attitude however.
Completed with a typo… My Diablo 2 knowledge has nothing to do with the subject.
The legendary item says to prevent all Fire damage. If all damage is prevented, you didn’t “take” any damage. Shields work a similar way, I believe. Shields “prevent” damage up to a certain amount, which is why Squirt’s is so strong with Shields.
The 2nd Objective — taking no Fire damage for the duration of the dungeon — can either be tricky or be completely eliminated, depending on your available gear. There are numerous enemies with fire attacks, fiery grates, traps and gauntlets spread across this dungeon to keep you on your toes, if you are up for a challenge. However if you simply wear or cube The Star of Azkaranth, this Objective is as good as done.
There’s kadala, and also upgrading rare amulets. Though you probably know that, sometimes I get tunnel vision and forget I have more than one option to make my gear
The rare upgrade method is how the vast majority of players are going to get the SoA within any reasonable amount of time. As a natural drop it’s virtually nonexistent, and via Kadala it’s pretty much the same due to the cost in shards and the sheer number of possible legendary and set amulets at LV 70.
Edit: And very few will ever see a non-primal SoA this good:
This one was before the proliferation of the modern RoS builds that rely on both elemental damage and the socket. You’d have realized that had you paid more attention to the screenshot’s contents.
The point still stands - the rolls vary so widely and this item is so comparatively rare that few will ever see a really good one. Also, yes, it can still roll a socket. I’d lose the 100% CHD on it, which is huge, but yes, it could still get a socket.
