20-90 years then? Any less would be ‘a’ decade and any more would be ‘a’ century.
Same for me I would rather be surprised. Knowing everything ahead of time is not fun for me.
Correct they NEVER said how many years.
A surprise 6th class would be awesome too. WHHHHHAAAAAAAT? I didn’t plan for that! This changes everything.
Sorry Barbarian, I will get to you in a bit, I am playing this first.
Can’t have that situation if the surprise was spoiled.
I am already picturing my Pale Knight too. Something along the lines of Jon Snow’s uncle when he has his flaming flail on horseback about to pwn some white walkers.
Didn’t Rhykker breakdown some of the concept art that showcased a Valkyrie archetype?
Something akin to an Amazon in that they used spears / polearms, likely a holy class since the artwork featured wings similar to Inarius’.
While the sixth/expansion class may likely be a holy class, it’s unlikely to be the Pale Knights mostly due to the pale knights being under Inarius’ command. At most we may team up with the Pale Knights for a short period of time in the game’s campaign, either to help them free Inarius from Hell and/or to temporarily serve under Inarius, until we see that Inarius is no better (if not worse) than Lilith and such we choose to fight back against both Lilith and Inarius in order to better protect Sanctuary from the result of their feud. That’s my guess anyway.
Somebody please point me to the Lore on this. I’m going to read the hell out of this right here. Out of hell joke… but serious please post links to the lore on this… websites, books, youtube, concept art, fan art, etc. I will be re-watching the linked video in the OP.
I think the game would be more interesting if: (A) players could choose sides which steers their campaign/quest path, (B) have the game centered around the player’s choices like in Witcher 3, or (C) start out on either side, Inarius or Lillith, reach an inflection point during the campaign and be given a choice to continue on the same side/path or switch sides. A very different approach to a somewhat linear style of campaign/quest progression. I believe you posted some innovative ideas as well that was on or related to the idea I laid out above, but in a previous thread.
I’ll leave the youtube videos to Avalon, as I don’t really watch much lore videos except for some of the ones he posts occassionally on the forums.
That said, regarding books (which I’d recommend nearly all of them if you’re interested in the lore), I’d certainly suggest the sin war trilogy which depicts details on both Lilith and Inarius, regarding their personalities and traits, ambitions, and motives. It’s because of this series, that I don’t believe either Lilith nor Inarius will be good for Sanctuary, not too mention, that Blizzard stated that their feud with one another threatens to destroys Sanctuary if left uncheck, hence why I believe we’ll go against the both of them (either directly and/or indirectly).
I absolutely agree.
Yes, indeed. Truth be told, I would be satisfied if simply after completing the campaign for the first time (which would be considered the canon of the story), players who opt to repeat the campaign can have the choice of choosing different routes and change up the outcome of the story. Of course, I don’t see that happening, it’s simply something I occassionally think would be nice to see in Diablo of having a choice of either being good, evil, or neutral.
You used to love those “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, didn’t you?
But yeah, that idea would be kind of cool.
Pale knights are followers of Inarius. They will not be a class.
Class or no class, just give me the shield (and spear). I almost pulled a corny a long time ago, when I almost named a Wizard Brook or Bruuk (shields). Just gimme the shield. At this point is may not even be worth releasing S-28. Just release D4, by Feb 28th and be done. They can still release S-28, but really no one will care. We’ve already “broken the seals”. Demon mommy is already free. …and please don’t F up D4.
Would be sweet if we could side with Diablo this time and he pwns them good, but in an expansion we have to pwn him good so he doesn’t get any ideas. We have 3 installments of pwning him, so I think we have a good track record of putting him in his place when needed.
HAHA! I was thinking that too. I loved those books. Grim Dawn also had a choice between siding with clerics or necromancers and that determined how you quested a bit, so that was fun, especially since you could swap sides in the next playthrough on a higher difficulty.
I was probably dating myself with that though.
I did watch a video about how those books came into being and what led to their discontinuation on some youtube channel a while back. Could have been “Toy Galaxy” or something like that. Edit: It was “Secret Galaxy” I think.
But yeah, those books were neat. Lots of rereadability to them.
Kymon or Death’s Vigil.
Yes indeed. They were a factor for me in making my own story and adventure (some of which with different routes) as a hobby.
We will get one. D3 didn’t start off with one. And no shield Barb didn’t count.
I honestly saw no difference other than the items available from vendors and within a small areas, different mobs to kill.
That would be a twist. We as heroes have no other option, to save Sanctuary from Lilith and Inarius totaly distroying it in their war, but to bring back the triune and deal with them. And then comes the expansion, where we have to deal with THEM again.
Is he even in D4 base game, maybe an expansion?
“But it’s important to remember that Lilith is here, and now there’s a power vacuum. She is the ascendant power. She’s the tornado at our doorstep right now. There’s a hurricane off in the distance that we should probably be aware of, but Lilith is here, and she is in charge.” - Blizzcon 2019
