'The Oculus' wizard source drops with a variable number of primary/secondary affixes

The wizard source ‘The Oculus’ drops with a variable number of primary and secondary affixes.

It can have 5/4/3 primary affixes and then a corresponding 0/1/2 secondary affixes (plus it’s legendary power). The total number of affixes remains the same, but the split between primary and secondary affixes changes.

Here’s one with 5 primaries, 0 secondaries:

And here’s one with 3 primaries and 2 secondaries:

Not sure if this is a bug or not. Both of the items fit the description on the website.

4 Primary stats are always the same, and the other 2 are random. Most items have 1 or 2 secondaries, but it does not say the random stats have to be either primary or secondary stats.

Yes, but it’s listed that way for every item on the website. They only list the fixed primary/secondary affixes in their respective slots, everything else is just listed as a ‘Random Magic Property’.

AFAIK this is the only [level 70 legendary] item in the game that can drop with only 3 primary affixes (there was an issue with a Crusader belt, Khassett’s Cord I think, but that was fixed?). Definitely doesn’t seem normal to me.

Every other wizard source is listed exactly the same way in the game guide with ‘+x Random Magic Properties’ for the random affixes but still rolls with the regular 4/2 split.

It’s not conclusively a bug since we can’t read the developers minds. But it seems very likely that it’s a bug given how the affixing system works and compared to literally every other item in the game. Worthy enough of a report.

It has 4 primary properties.

You mean the damage range? The damage range on sources doesn’t count as a primary as part of the 4/2 split. Neither does the attack speed on quivers.

Quivers, sources, and mojos have the regular 4/2 split and then the damage range or IAS is a fixed inherent property on top of that that cannot be rerolled. Compare it to my Chantodo’s Force in the screenshots, damage range + 4 primaries + 2 secondaries.

It is still a primary property. It just can’t be enchanted.

Okay, then every other source (and quiver, and mojo, and phylactery) has 5 primaries and 2 secondaries then. This one still has one less primary and one more secondary.

It might be a glitch in the matrix. Tried to replicate this issue, and all the ones I got (one via upgrade in cube, then reforged 4 times) all had the same number of primary and secondary properties.

I’ve actually been finding them like that for a number of years. I just haven’t got around to reporting it.

Got another one gambling last night so finally got around to getting a screenshot and reporting it. I’ll see if I can get a few more.

Made a few more:

This source is sooooo weird. I got a primal one…but its lacking a spot for a skill passive…didnt come with crit…
