Tainted abode in new tristram

I Know it said it was secret, but what kind of area am I looking for? Before I got a few of these infernal machine of regret - I had no clue. Do these need to be on the person or just in their stash?

The infernal machine needs to be in inventory and then clicked in the abode to open up the corresponding uber portal. The four different machines open up unique uber portals. Each unique uber portal drops a unique crafting material that is needed to forge Level 70 Hellfire Rings/Amulets. The difficulty level increases the number of crafting materials that can drop.

If you mean the heretic’s abode it’s in the Act 1 town map near the healer dude.

It’s the wooden door behind the Healer in New Tristram, you can attack it/break it.

Go inside with the machines in your inventory. You can only open one of each type in the same game session, unlike the Vault portal that closes after 60 seconds and you can open as many as you can.

Also make sure you’re in “Adventure Mode” and not “Campaign Mode”.

Here are a few screenshots… the location of the Heretic’s Abode is slightly different in Adventure and Campaign modes. Most people use Adventure mode, but it is also available in Campaign mode.

For campaign mode… you also need to be in the “Return to New Tristram” quest (the last quest before going to Act II). If you have already passed that quest, you can go back to it by changing the quest.

  • From the game Main Menu, click Game Settings
  • In the center of the screen, click Change
  • Use the scroll bar and select “Return to New Tristram”; see https://i.imgur.com/WF3jDzr.jpg
  • Click “OK” and “Start Game”

When you approach the Heretic’s Abode, there will be no sign or any indication that you can break the door down. https://i.imgur.com/SQPIqhw.jpg

Simply walk to the door and “attack” it as if it was a monster. :grin:

Blizzard needs to make ubers very hard again. Increase the monsters life , defense , resists etc etc. Increase there damage output and so on.
