Suggestion thread? Idea for rerolling all stats on items

I was thinking of a way to allow us to reroll every stat on 1 item.

1st stat roll - normal, keep rolling for what you want.
2nd stat roll - 10% penalty (if max stat was 10, then now it is only 9)
3rd stat roll - 20% penalty
4th - 30%
5th - 40%
6th - 50%

I doubt most people would roll past 3, but the penalty would mean people would keep looking for the perfect item. Allowing us to roll all of the individual stats with penalties would at least allow us to make builds we want with lesser stats.

Better to reforge then imo.

If this “reroll” doesn’t work on ancient and primal, i’ts ok for me :joy:

If you need to roll for more than one affix, trash or reforge and find a better one.

The game wants you to be on the lookout for new and better, not “one and done.”

I would agree on primal, but would like it to work on ancient. This would not be a “one and done” thing, either. You would be motivated to keep looking for better items. This only allows you to have a build you want, just with with penalties.

I look at defense for example. I might have 1600 physical resist and 2000 fire resist. Those rolls are usually ignored, but with this you could even that out some by rerolling some secondaries. Imagine rings and trinkets as well, you could make an elemental damage, CHD, crit and socket far easier. I can see where the penalty for that might need to be higher though.

This game already has appeal due to the fact it is a gambling game akin to a slot machine. You know something will drop, you just have to hope it is what you want and has the right stats. This would not stop that appeal, just allow you have something that let’s you enjoy the game in a different way.

I have thought of an example with a low affix item: a ring.

Something drops and it has 10% crit, no socket and nothing else you want. You roll the CHD for 90% max (not enough penalty?), then you roll elemental damage for 16% max (again, not enough penalty?) and then you roll a socket. The gem you place in there would only be 70% of what it actually is though. You have that level 100 leg gem and now it is only level 70. I personally would not reroll such an item, but it gives an example of how this would work.
