I’d like to see an update where followers are “shared” - meaning you do not have to equip several followers across game mode normal/seasonal when you switch heros.
Example: Enchantress/Templar/Scoundrel on normal mode has same equipment for all heros on normal mode
Enchantress/Templar/Scoundrel on sessonal has the same equipment for all heros on seasonal mode.

The time for updates is over.
You are suggesting to remove item holders across multiple characters. Plus not everyone would want the same Follower at different tasks.
One character may like Enchantress with invulnerability token because it’s easier to manage while farming items; however another character build would need All skill access token for pushing. Another build may like the healing of Templar while doing Nightmares or Fissures, but for pushing they may like Scoundrel. One character may like to speed farm Nephalem Rifts with Cord of Sherma and Avarice Band on the Templar but another may require him to be ready for pushing with Crimson’s and RoRG equipped. Examples can vary but apply for every build.
All of that shortly mean each time you are about to farm for a different task; pushing, farming, or speeding, you need to equip them in different gear and losing time when you can just adorn them for different tasks and hire either of them. With split Followers, you can easily tell which one you need to go with pushing or farming. If you think one Follower is all you had to stick with because online guides told you so, they’re lying to you or wrong.
If I am pushing with Enchantress, I’d like her to stay that way and gear other two, toward the speed GRs and Fissures or farming crucial artifacts such as Whispers or Keystones. Much faster, more efficient.
If I am in a mood of pushing today, I get my Enchantress with All Skill access token then when I am done I hire my Scoundrel with Broken Crown or Templar with Sage’s. I couldn’t be able to do just that and switch on a whim with every character when you limit the player with shared Followers.

I’d prefer to have the followers separate so that different skills/gear could be used with different characters.
What I wished Bliz had done was include followers in the armory profiles. Pusher with pusher, farmer with farmer, etc.

That is easier to solve. I have 1 follower for push usually enchantress, and the scoundrel as farmer/keys cuz has 2nd best dmg buffs, and templar for vaults or whatever
I don’t use one type of follower for a specific task unfortunately. They get shuffled around depending on synergies with the chars.
I put alot of things that blind Monsters on my follower.
And It work greatly
I would prefer an option for solo players to have the 3 followers active all the time if we like. But D3 is in maintenance mode so why suggest changes if they have not already made them over 11 years.
