So the mega nerfs to the Altar will probably kill any chance a casual like me has of leveling the red soul shard legendary gem to rank 150 in NS (a goal I have purely so I have a full collection of leg gems at max rank).
So now my next best strategy looks to be to wait for a season where it’s live in January, has a powerful theme like ethereals or soul shards to couple with the revised Altar, and run the class with the best pushing build in the game.
Anyone got a better strategy than this?

I leveled Red Soul Shard solo to 150 (I think it was the Shard season, xD). I main EU, if anyone is checking my toons…
Anyway, I see you have a relatively decent Wizard, you should be able to spam GR139 even in NS, and 1% the gem in question to 150.

Hmmm, I didn’t realise doing 139 would still net 1% chance on gem upgrades. God knows I have enough keys from doing fissures this season.
Maybe a combination of the above two strategies.
134 lets you 1% a gem to 150.
Play a ZDPS in season. They do not require more than 1500 paragon or so in a normal season.
Make sup character and play some GR with big boys. As skilled zbarb or znec, zdh you will be very welcome in speed 150’s
Find the NS party on 149. It’s a best strategy. Fine works. Tested by myself personally.
On NS its easy because you alrady have the paragons and needed gem
I’d say that I’m an OK zBarb. I don’t run zdps enough these days to be super good but I did do a fair few 2 man runs in HC a few years back with a clan mate.
I’m sure I’ll smarten up after 10 or so runs.
I should probably practice with zDH too since I have one geared up in NS.
I sometimes want to cry when 1500 paragon support has better player-skills than 10k paragon players.
Already seen too many braindead tryhards, trying to get free exp and gems effortlessly, and then crying that the game is lagging, ofc it does, especially when the other wizard can’t play the game properly, and im doing 80% of overall damage by myself…

Look, i’m greedy too, and i want everything, but because im greedy, im going to try as hard as i can to get to my goal fast, so it implies learning to play, as just said, players skills are very important.
I’ve played GR 149 in hardcore with 800 paragons noproblem, but that was tripple support team, me as zmonk, for pun because my nickname translation is GrimMonk, and i mained zmonk for 10 thousand hours on my first account, playing monkey since release, yes i have no life, i just protect The Sanctuary from demon hordes, and heal your asses.
Tip: if you are afraid of dying, use stone gloves and ice climber boots, on any support character
But personally (as a actively playing wizard now) i would votekick you if ive seen dh, or barb, or necro, with that equipped on softcore, unless you paid me for boosting you
