I started to kill izual, check leorics fireplace, and look for mushroom, and liquid rainbow ever bounty i joined either during or after. I got them
Then all I had to do for hours straight is a speed run to Cavern of Frost to kill Chiltara over and over. If the Icefall caves has a bounty or you see the Icefall caves immediately close the game and restart. You can do this many many times an hour.
But do all the other parts during or right after bounties. It wont feel so grindish. If I remember correctly, you can do all this on normal mode too. Difficulty doesn’t increase rate of quest drops.
Trying your method now. No reason not to! Just finished Act 1. Probably the last time I’ll be playing D3 since D4 is going to come out – so it’s fitting I do the campaign which I haven’t done in like a decade.
Just wish I could skip all these dialogue sequences.
I only made 53 games. 29 were caverns of frost, so the remaining games were icefall caves. Almost 50/50. Chiltara almost spawned in every caverns of frost too. Very close.
I think farming Holiday Gifts for 3 hours a day for nearly 3 months gives me a decent idea of how RNG works. It’s just ironic that after hearing all the horror stories so many players are getting this item completed in one play session.
So I’ve done the campaign to the area where the frost caverns spawn. And Chiltara is in there every single time. That’s nice! However, there’s a blindspot here I wasn’t thinking about. I can’t look to see if there is an ice cavern or glacier bounty for that area, then instantly remake. So I’m hitting a lot of games where the frost caverns don’t spawn. With that problem, I’m not sure this is a faster method.
Haven’t tried yet but I did kill Izual twice and he hasn’t dropped the plan yet. I figure I won’t bother getting the ingredients until I actually need them, or at least have the design.
Fortunately, on console, there are only two hard ones to get - the Gemstone and the Mushroom.
I have more important things to worry about, like getting my dang Haunted Visions. Or a Broken Crown.
Compared to many yeah. My grind this time was nowhere near as laborious as previous attempts. I guess I am one of the lucky ones in s28. Of course, now I just started HC and watch that be a real __________________ of a grind to get all the parts to make the Staff of Herding. I’ll have to post that later on for comparison.
I spent about an hour for Staff of Herding. It wasn’t hard after all. I remember farming for it back in a days to open cow portal. Chilantra is what took the longest for me, but it was reasonable grind.
