Staff of Herding Plan won't drop

I’ve played this game for decades and know how to get the plan. I’ve visited Isual many many times to try to get the plan to drop. I CANNOT complete the alter this season because I have no plan. I have all the materials to make the staff, twice; One for the alter and one for my game. Yet, I cannot use the materials and all the time I wasted to get them all because I have no plan. Please drop the plan for me.

Stupid question (but often helps): don’t you already have the plan at the blacksmith?

I don’t have time or inclination to take screenshots but I think some will.

You don’t just visit Izual, you should kill him, too :smiley:

Just kidding, last few seasons it took me over 20 kills to get the plan from him.

As suggested, you might have the plan already learned, so check with the Blacksmith.

Dumb question: Have you checked the Blacksmith’s Forge Weapon tab, under Staff to see if you might have taught it to him earlier? 1

In Season 32 I thought I’d NEVER get the Plan: Staff of Herding. I thought Blizzard had made it as rare as the Gibbering Gemstone used to be. I spent an entire gaming session for 2 days farming Izual before he finally dropped the Plan.

This Season 33 Izual dropped the Plan the first time I encountered him, just after the Season started while running Bounties.

D3 RNG is kind of buggered anyway. But, this is not a game bug.

I’ve wasted a few izual runs on this. :no_mouth:
I kindof enjoy those runs though: open paths, don’t get stuck on corners much and can really zoom through!

This season, my second character was a FotH crusader for farming the rainbow portrait.

I set off to refarm all the mats for a 2nd staff (1st was sacrificed at altar). Having done this many times, I robotically ran all the routes. Got all the mats, but no recipe. Over and over and over and over… no recipe.

Then, a couple hours in, it hit me…

Yeah, 2 recipes, like 2 cooks. Staff would be strange :yum:
