Squirt's reroll

The gods were not exactly kind to me (said more like “meh let him have it”) and granted me a primal squirt’s with avg damage, dexterity, CHD and socket. Naturally, I’m wondering what to roll:

  1. Dexterity -> elemental damage. Helps me keep squirts available for multiple classes since avg dmg is inferior to CHC but is still relatively useful and I can change to whichever element. Augmenting would be a soft limitation

  2. avg damage -> elemental? CHC? I keep dexterity (so it’s only DH and monk) and 1000 dex is quite ok for these two classes (I don’t main them, will probably never extensively augment but I do like UE and WoL, respectively.

So… what should I do? thanks!

I would roll the dex to chc. Avg damage will make up for a good amount of the lost ele% damage.

Generally, unless your CHC is very low, Ele % is going to always be a better increase in damage. Lower Sheet DPS, but 20% overall damage buff is really strong.
i dont know much about Ave. damage but i would reroll that.

You should open in d3planner and play with it before doing anything.

Assuming not Thorns, you want Crit/Crit on your amulet almost always. Demon Hunters can make up for the loss of Crit Chance a lil bit if the Quiver has a good roll though.

Baseline 5%
Paragon 5%
Rings ~12%
Gloves ~10%
Quiver ~10%
Helmet ~6%
Bracers ~6%

So you might already be at ~54% Crit Chance on a Demon Hunter w/o Amulet which if you are, then maybe Elemental would be the way to go.

I’d probably roll the Dex off no matter what you decide though.

If you Dual Wield or use it for another class besides DH/Wiz, I’d probably go Crit though.

I hate it when we get Primal’s with poopy rolls . Heartbreaking . It shouid be a special reward , not a disappointment . Still not too bad to get you by for a while . But I would definitely look for better .

The best stats for an Amulet are:
Fire Damage / Critical Hit Chance / Critical Hit Damage / Socket

Fire Damage is better than Dex, Critical Hit Chance is better than Fire Damage, Critical Hit Damage is better than Critical Hit Chance, and a Socket is the best thing to have in rings and amulets.

Fixed.

The only time when crit chance > element is with builds that stack things like Cindercoat and Magefist (e.g. LoN builds). It’s best to do the math manually to check but for UE Multishot, element is the way to go (you should have 40% ideally).

I imported your profile into d3 planner, and I didn’t see the primal squirts but an ancient one with basically the same stats, so I used that for the calculations.

You have 815.9 billion multishot dps with 19% fire damage and 822.6 billion if that fire damage was changed to 10% crit. The fire damage is a lower increase because you also have fire damage on your soj. With no other sources of fire damage, there will always be a 16.67% damage increase taking 20% fire damage to 40% fire damage.

I have now changed my amulet and the seasonal toon wears the primal squirt. I will most probably change dexterity in order to allow my more frequently played classes use it but haven’t decided yet.

You need to roll the Dex for sure. It is probably better to roll it for CHC than Fire damage, but if you want to be sure you can do the following: roll it until you get 10% CHC (or 20% Fire damage), then check your exact elemental damage amount (by hovering the mouse over the Fire damage line in your character details), then roll again until you get 20% Fire damage (or 10% CHC) and check again. Obviously you keep what grants you the highest damage amount.
