So is this a special drop that comes from like a specific bounty cache or something?
Because I swear I have gotten every single neck in the game dozens of times yet have not seen Squirts so much as once.
No. Squirt’s is just a normal loot, not a Horadric Cache specific item. At lower Torment levels, don’t expect to see many different legendaries as all items supposed to get unlocked at high Torment levels. Although not sure, that could be the case for Squirt’s and as you play at low Torment levels, you may never see it due drop rates being low or item being excluded from certain loot tables but Cube or Kadala. I wouldn’t know for sure.
You can have plenty of substitute amulets to replace it until you find one instead. It depends on the build but Ess of Johan and Overwhelming Desire, which the latter you can find from Act 3 Caches, can replace it without offering any damage vulnerability. Any class should have such debuffs that cause target monsters to incur more damage. By any chance you can not introduce such skill, you can always pair Halcyon’s amulet with Strongarm bracers to debuff everything around you by a single cast.
Alternatively; you can craft a good Hellfire Amulet for a fifth passive and it’d still be good enough.
It all depends on your other items and action skill choice but those amulets are almost good as Squirt’s; not by doubling direct damage but amplifying the impact of collateral damage by toppling the monsters together.
RNG = RNG
The reason you are not getting it is because you want it.
Took me 8 hours on opening night to get my Lakumbas for my WD. I spend every shard and db from level 70 2 hours in until I got it the next day 8 hours in.
Just 8 hours? I haven’t found any but I’m only around 400 paragon or something.
Edit: I was around 360 plvl when I posted this with 20 hours on record. After a few more hours and hitting 540 plvl, they have dropped with other few items that seemed so elusive.
Well, 1-70 in 2 hours. Went up to T6 real quick with my LOD WD, but was stuck there because of damage mitigation. Still, farmed around 15,000ish shards and and around 2k dbs and was around p450ish playing no higher than T6 when it finally dropped.
I push to rank high on the conquest and achievement LBs. This gimped my progress severely, so cube and Kadala got a full massacre bonus of 4 letter words from me.
For a typhon wizard like OP, squirts is way better than any other amulet.
There are a lot of amulets, so that’s why it’s a pretty rare drop.
Looking OPs profile, there is no weapon equipped, and rimeheart in the cube, so not sure what is going on…
If they have a sanctified weapon it will show as no weapon. Just looked at my profile and it too shows no weapon for my DH which has a sanctified weapon.
I mean, I do have rime in cube, but idk why it isn’t showing my weapon. I have sanctified serpent sparker and recently got a primal winter flurry drop. And I finally did get squirts (and a copy, because of course it drops again after the fact) put it in the cube for a combo with compass rose. It might not be what I should have build wise, but it works.
Seems they don’t show sanctified items, so that explains that then. Lmk if you want any tips on the build otherwise.
Third lakumba came for me primal in three days. First shortman ring came yesterday. RNG.
So I changed my weapon from serpent sparker to Fragment of Destiny (after I actually READ the description of it and managed to get the drop) and got lucky on the crucible effect. Magic missle one. Plus a Ramaldni’s for a socket, I changed the area damage property for 10% damage. Changed cube weapon to sparker (already had it in there so no need to sacrifice sanctified I was using). Managed to do GR100 with my current low ranked gems of 40, 41, and 58 respectively. Took just under 7 minutes but I’m surprised how well I was able to do it at all considering my last attempt for the 1500 altar requirement.
Kind of just gushing here, but I’d like your opinion on how well I’m actually doing with the build at this point. If the weapon is the only part you can’t see because sanctified, I’ll copy the stats here:
Fragment of Destiny
1516-1940 arcane damage
+10% damage (changed property)
+1000 intelligence
+1000 vitality
And “Magic missiles fires 10 missiles and gains the effect of the Seeker rune”
ok, sure.
- Sperpent sparker and fragment are the right two weapons for slower runs with more damage, 3-4min or slower. For speed runs, like T16, you want aether walker instead of fragment.
- I understand that you’re looking for a squirts, and once you find one, drop endless walk, equip coe and karini, and cube rorg. The orange roll on karini is super important, so until you find a good roll, probably better to cube karini and equip rorg and coe. You can swap coe for ring of jordan in speed runs if you want, assuming you don’t play around the coe cycles. You must be super squishy without karini!
- Craft guardian for belt and bracers. More damage and more defense than your current setup.
- I see you have rolled life regen on a couple of pieces. It’s a useless stat. You’ll be protected by shields, so only need toughness from vit, % life, armour and resistances. There are no good rolls you can get on your boots (secondary res blocks primary all-res), but pants should be armour instead of life regen.
- Hydra damage on your chest, instead of all-res.
- bane of the trapped instead of wildebeast. You can get much better shields from skills and passives.
- cooldown to crit damage on gloves.
- crit chance and cold damage on bracers.
- For skills:
- blizzard apocalypse. the bigger area is super important to cover all the mobs. Without it you have to cast many times or lots of mobs will not get the debuff.
- Magic missile does nothing. You already have a lot of cc from the hydras. Use barrier blades if you play melee, or electrocute surge of power if you play ranged and want the extra resources.
- You get your shields from galvaninsing ward passive (that you have), but to reset that you need to protect it with sustain shields, from either or both of barrier blades and magic weapon - deflection. Dominance can be an option if you go super fast, but you’re not without aether walker.
- You play ranged with zeis (I assume because you’re super squishy without guardian or karini), so you want to use power hungry passive.
- cold blooded is super bad, elemental exposure is more damage even if you don’t hit all four elements.
- If you play slow, 3+ min clear, you shouldn’t need astral presence. Try to not over-cast blizzard and hydras, and use electrocute for mana if needed. Instead, there is A LOT of damage in arcane dynamo. It charges very quickly with electrocute, so make sure to charge it before you place a hydra.
Main two things are guardian and karini. It’ll make you like 20x tougher.
With a sustain shield such as deflection, you will have a much easier time to keep your shield up, and the 2x damage from squirts with that. If you also add in trapped and power hungry, you’ll have way more damage as well. Run lower level faster GRs to level your gems, 2-3min max, don’t spend 7 minutes in a GR this early in a season.
Honestly I don’t think I can, for me it would be a “luck of the draw” kind of thing for if I get the right element cycle or not. I can’t keep track of something like that with all the craziness going on around me in combat.
Would it be better to go with Jordan in general for me in this case? Or is “luck of the draw” here still more beneficial in the long run?
Also, I know there are a couple things in here that I don’t have stat wise as I ended running out of veiled crystal, but I have tried to get as many of these down as best I can.
And thanks for all the help with this, I seriously appreciate it. I’ve never really been good with builds outside of what I see helps with the set I’m using. (Or in the rare case of blessed shield crusader. One of my favorite no-set builds.)
Personally I don’t mind going the slower 3 min (or 4 min depending on if the game feels like giving me a bad rift like it likes to do) GR runs for the higher damage output of sparker + fragment.
Edit: Also, I do have rorg in cube, for me it’s not showing up in the jewelry slot when checking my seasonal char profile. And I do have 1 more question, would it be possible to have shield potency in cube or is tasker too necessary to replace? I assume tasker is too good to get rid of, but I just figured I’d ask out of curiosity.
TL;DR you’re most likely still going to benefit better from CoE, but it really comes down to math that’s hard to parse without using something like a character planner or a spreadsheet.
CoE cycles through every element available to your class, in alphabetical order. Monks get shafted as they have 5 elements, Necros get blessed cuz they have 3. Everyone else iirc has 4. Which means you’re most likely looking at a 25% uptime on relevancy innately; this is obviously vastly improved if you DO play around the cycle, but even “playing normally” you’re multiplying your damage done by up to 200% for roughly 1/4 of the entire GR.
And it’s a FULL multiplier, iirc. DoTs will hit harder during those 4 seconds, etc. It’s not additive. It’s literally “you did X for 12 seconds, but now you do 4X for 4 seconds.”
Now, that being said, maybe you have a CRAPton of off-element +damage for some reason? Jordan can turn that into whatever element’s relevant for you, 100% of the time. Sooo, as I said, it’s a math thing.
But it’s usually better to CoE if you’re looking for damage, even if you completely ignore trying to play around it.
coe vs jordan is a bit controversial. On average across the 4 cycles, coe is +50% damage, which is more than you get from soj. Problem with coe is that in speed runs, you will clear the screen in the first 1-2 seconds of cold cycle, and then the last 2 seconds of cold do nothing, so effectively it is adding much less than 50%. While soj has value all the time, and in particular vs elites which is where you need it the most. Tbh I don’t think it matters a lot which one you take, they are probably pretty close effectively.
With karini and guardian you’ll be a lot tankier than you are now, like more than a factor 20 tankier, so no need to swap out TnT. And with deflection you’ll have more sustain as well, so you’ll be fine. If you still want further defense after that, look into passives instead, like blur or unstable anomaly, but shouldn’t be needed.
… So what’s better for a stat? Life % or Vitality?
Because I just got an ancient chest drop that I’m thinking about possibly replacing the one I have on now.
Stats for the one I have now:
453 Int
12% life
13% Hydra dmg (changed stat)
Stats for the Ancient I just got:
554 Int
624 Vit
12% Hydra dmg
Sorry if I’m bothering you too much with this stuff.
Vitality is better, especially with guardians, that you should have with typhon unless you’re like 3k+ paragon.
So your new ancient one is a keeper. Roll hydra damage up to 15%.
