Squirts necklace vs coe

hi all, i’m using for my tal comet wizard coe+karini and rorg in cube
however i’ve seen some people using rorg+karini and squirts in cube
so, which one is better coe or squirts?

CoE averages 50% more damage (4s 200%, 12s 0%) but Squirts is a 100% buff constantly. Thanks to various shields it is also possible to keep it up all the time.

Squirts is better.

i’m confused, however i’m using squirts

It depends on your shields and preference of crowd control. CoE adds 200% increased damage that tripples your damage output for only one sequence among 4 seconds long instances then it will be followed by three instance long down time (12 seconds) that mitigates that huge surge of damage over time. That will diminish that tripple damage to be measly 50% damage per second boost at best when you barely miss any cycles for the burst. If you want to have full performance from CoE you either need a good amount of mobility and toughness to wait out between your burst instances or have a really strong pull effect to position the lot of the monsters at your feet.
Compared to that, Squirt’s grant you 100% boost, doubling your damage output if you can nullify the incoming damage with absorbing barriers by sustaining them and dodge. You don’t need massive amounts of crowd control either, but in case you have access to that and mobile enough, CoE can turn out to be a better finisher that wipe weak targets at once with sheer Area Damage%.

In conclusion, there is no better option; just some elemental specs have variety of space for crowd control to be eligible for certain choices.

I’ve been going back and forth with this for a few days.

The % descriptions above work when taking only the legendary powers into account.

But I got lucky with a pretty good CoE, and it is augmentable to boot.

I wonder if losing the

  • 50% average plus
  • the AD
  • one of the crits (my RoRG would replace the other crit)
  • the augment

…is worth going the Squirts route.

Any maths people got any ideas?

I am not a Wizard expert but I will suggest you to hit your profile into maxroll’s simulator and consider possibilities there. As I have said Squirt can be consistent in the hands of a Wizard as long as you can sustain the barriers, but you may feel that it takes longer to wipe weakened targets compared to CoE. For compensation, you may consider taking another damage passive or try to take a more mobile approach so you can lure weak targets next to highly vital ones for Area Damage% procs.

I just looked on leaderboard and the number one spot is using coe+karini+squirts w/rorg in cube. Mang Song’s Lesson for the weapon too. I saw another post asking if that weapon or the Oculus was better for overall dps output.

Of course, the character has gg gear and over 3800 paragon, so go figure being able to pwn out a gr 150.

I’m not at home to check, but is that #1 still the person using something besides meteor?

Meteor - Star Pact
Magic Weapon - Conduit
Frost Nova - Frozen Mist
Familiar - Sparkflint
Teleport - Safe Passage
Storm Armor - Power of the Storm

The Smoldering Core, Mempo of Twilight, Ring of the Royal Grandeur in the cube.

Ah thanks. Things changed up since I looked last.

You’re welcome.

#1 has a full minute over #2 also.
#2 is using The Oculus.
#3 is using The Oculus.
#4 is using Mang Song’s Lesson
#5 is using a Wizard Spike.

Nice to see all three weapons in the top 5 clears for Tal Rasha’s set. The skills are all pretty much the same too, save for a different rune here and there.

I was having this exact thought yesterday as well and for me it comes down to one thing - what are you trying to do:

  1. If you are pushing max possible clear, or fastest time attack GR150 then squirts comes out on top, however you need a GR with the low attacking monsters like the zombies and spiders.

  2. If you are just trying to clear 150s for gem levelling, so not a time attack, then take COE as you may still be able to clear GRs with attacking monster types, however if you use Squirts you will lose your shields a lot during the run, thus negating the benefits of Squirts.

COE is 50% additional damage (200% / 4 cycles) vs 100% continuous for Squirts provided you can keep it up.

Squirts in cube allows you to use second additional set (Guardian or Crimson) with Augilds in price of CoE
