Hey.
I read that they are nerfing the GoD set but I am really confused here.
I use Hungering Arrow only to refill my momentum then Strafe around to breeze throughout the mobs. They wrote everywhere that Hungering Arrow would be nerfed down and lose its piercing effects down to a limit of 3.
And yet I don’t use Hungering Arrow that much. Only to refill my momentum and speed. It’s Strafe I use!
As a side note, I don’t Push Greater Rifts. I am a speedfarmer and speed GR player. Nothing meta.
I just am confused. What is it about the anger of that nerf? Can anyone explain please?
Thanks.
A lot GoD’s power comes from the HA pierces and pushing high GRs really depends on those pierces. With Devouring Arrow rune the damage increases by 70% with each pierce. If you cluster up a huge amount of enemies, you can get very high amount of pierces and the damage goes up accordingly. Add in the mix a Missile Dampening elite and and the damage goes really high.
3 pierces severely limits the damage output at the high end. For speeds the change is barely noticeable but when pushing it’s very noticeable.

So, since I am a casual player who mostly uses that build for T16 farming and fast GR 100 speeding, it means that nerfing will be barely noticeable then? Is this nerfing only seeable when the build is used in like 120 and higher tiers?
I’d say starting at GR110 it should become noticeable.
When I tested this on the PTR, the initial limitation of 2 pierces was already noticeable at GR100. Increasing the limit to 3 and buffing the GoD 6p bonus to 15k% helped a bit but it still hurts.
3 pierces is simply way too low.

It’s the hungering arrow that deals the bulk of the damage, not Strafe. Strafe is like the “vehicle” here. Hence you see in guides rolls on some items “Hungering arrow deals 15% more damage”. By strafing you shoot hungering arrows everywhere but it is the hungering arrow here that damages. Same as for example the WW barb. It is Rend that damages not whirlwind itself.
I mean not just HA. To be more precise, it says all primary skills. Both the 2 and 6 set bonus have nothing to do with strafe but only with primary skills. Don’t get confused by the skill description for strafe that says : Shoot at random nearby enemies for 675% weapon damage . This is so insignificant compared to your other damage source and it doesn’t get multiplied by 2, 6 set bonus or other complementary items like 9th Cirri Satchel or Hunter’s Wrath or simplicity’s strength (gem).
In your case if you don’t do high Grs you might not notice the difference any way. On T16, and probably up to GR100 a hungering arrow post-nerf is still going to one shot everything.

Oh now I understand. Yeah my WW Barb uses Rend when I cube my Ambo’s Pride. It’s Rend who does the damage when I Whirlwind.
I love channeled skills especially for quick farming and speed GR 100 for quick legs to my augments.
I used to love my barb more than my DH but after trying her DoH I was flabberghasted by the effective overkill damage of its AoE. Fast and furious, effective and convenient for quick farming and speed GR.
I’ll try it again post 2.7 nerfing and perhaps the damage output changes won’t be too noticeable. Am at Paragon 2k too and not into the meta. Like I said, I’m more of a casual gamer. I love my Nec, But DH and Barb are my two main farmers though and definitely are damage tankers.

Nice to hear it. You can try monk too if you like this playstyle, monk has 2 really strong options with tempest rush. 1. Patterns of Justice and 2. Sunwuko. Sunwuko will be a bit stronger next season but POJ is easier to play and more relaxing when you farn and doens’t require resource management. I also love these playstyles. They have good pushing potential and are really strong for every acrivity in the game. As for Dh yeah the nerf is noticable with high pushes and before there was some kind of exploit with the “missile dampering” elites. The ones that had a bubble around them that slowed projectiles. That basically meant that the hungering arrow was like stucked inside this bubble for a few seconds and the pierces allowed for some tremendous damage. Now instead we got a 15000% instead of the 10000% in the 6 set bonus so speed content is actually not bad. In your case you might even find that you can do better now for speeds. Also hungering arrow can be replaced by whatever primary skill you want if you want to try something different it is still strong but not eclipsing everything else by a mile. With your paragon and some decent gear with augments i think you can still easily speed farm GR105+ in not time with DH.

I agree. Chanelling skills aren’t as intense and make excellent gameplay for fast farming and effective overall gameplay, even in group bounties and such.
Yeah I had to augment a lot and force myself to reach at least about 1.5k back in 2017 for better stats management. After they had added the barb’s Rend effects on his WW, he was squishy but fast so I forced a further five hundred points and forced 100 leg augments through my nec’s slower but tankier scythe build.
It’s a lot of work to get that far in paragon because I’m a solo player non seasonal usually and it’s veeery long but I like non intense and progressive gameplay.
Now that I have achieved a tankier barb and DH as farmer, I never came back to my Nec for speed farming because my barb and DH can tackle the same thing in about half the time and they are awesomely fun to play.
Yeah speaking about the Monk, I have beeb thinking of making one, especially now that I am turning to that fabled quest of the Cosmic Wings. I finally got the Rainbow Portrait after like two hundred uses of the Staff of Herding with my barb. The monk is said to make a fast and easy one to play for quick gobs runs.
I thought of using my chicken WD but I don’t like the WD very much.

Yup, it’s definitely worth taking a look if you decide to play monk in the future. GoD is also perfect for farming the wings. WD angry chicken is also good for that and other things like the boss mode conquest when you need to go from point A to point B really fast but it’s power falls in greater rifts. Right now i am in love with the necro bloodrush + Steuarts greaves combo for speeds. You can also bloodrush through walls so that is very nice for bad maps with many rooms and dead ends.

Yeah the Nec is my favourite of them all because well he’s the Nec. Been a Diablo ayer ever since the first game back in the day and the Nec always have been a personal lick for me in D2 LoD so you can bet when they released the Nec pack here on D3 I immediately bought it! Yeah the Steuard’s Greaves and the Bloodrush combo is awesome. The Nec is fun to play and so powerful. Its Scythe and Simulacrum update last summer made him just even more incredibly essential. Everyone should try the Nec. He’s also new user friendly too.
