I kept hearing various arguments about the new season, for or against the new follower system. There is always been a rift (excuse the pun) between solo play and group play. Group always can do any key, bounty or GR much faster than solo can. The issue has always been on the leaderboards, anyone who plays 4 man groups can climb the solo leaderboards 10 times faster than true solo players. The simple solution would be, once you get on any other leaderboard other than solo, that char is locked out of solo. I see the flames coming because a lot of peeps use this method to climb the solo boards, but is it fair.
There is a grouping achievement. They just need to make it Seasonal and include a true solo LB filter based on it.
Some of the group players are bitter because thare is no sesonal theme for them. They can not exploit anything other than eachother, while solo players have the followers. Which is grate, but not that big of a leap. They can’t realise(or realise but they’re a bunch if power creeps) that on top that they benefit from group play big time, they can also benefit from the theme. And now for the first time in the hestory of sesons, the solo playes got a tiny little extra, and now suddenly, some of the group players are outraged. Which is not a nice behaviour, to put it nicely.
It doesn’t have anything to do with solo vs group though. It’s more about it being less fun without a theme. A season without a theme just makes me want to play non seasons after I get the tab and cosmetics.
Its also about going from lvl 1 char to high point in the leaderboards, which season is actually about. The new leaderboards and follower system for solos was to help balance this out. Seasonal theme was just icing on the cake. Answer this question how do you balance out different sets and builds if you have season theme monkey wrench thrown in that unbalances everything. I understand why they did it. With the new leaderboards and no theme, they will have a better idea of whats totally out of balance. The boards will tell better than dozens of post complaining, so if you want your build upgraded, play it. Then let the leaderboards be your proof.
So your way to correct this (or fix it towards your playing style) would be to lock people out of the solo boards if they do a gr with someone else vs a totally solo playing person (which I guess would be considered SSF.)
Lets say this is done, wouldn’t there still be people crying that Solo or people claiming to be SSF are doing T16 runs in group for more exp or items, than a true SSF player. How about the guy that join’s 4 man’s to leave before boss is dead. This would unbalance the playing field as they are still getting an advantage over the true SSF player.
Wouldn’t asking blizzard for a SSF mode be the correct thing to ask for, over asking to change other people’s gameplay to what you want them to do? You can make it another tab we could select from that does: adventure mode, campaign mode, challenge rift mode, then the SSF mode (which the people have solo boards just for them, you can compare yourself to.)
Would you then be mad because a player who plays 24/7 compared to a 16 hr player or a 4 hr a day player now have an advantage cause you chose to play less time than them?
What did you do for the first 12 season? We did not have a theme.
I believe the majority of the player base does not fall neatly into either a “solo” or “group” category. While my seasonal goals revolve around solo pushes, I recognize the necessity of playing in a group to achieve them. And I also just enjoy playing in groups as much as I enjoy attempting a personal best solo clear. I imagine most players approach the game similarly.
I understand the unbalanced XP mechanics are an issue for those who prefer a strictly-solo experience. I support calls for a SSF mode so solo-only players could have Leaderboards that represent their preferred play-style.
That said; Michael Phelps has gold medals in both solo and group Olympic swim events. I’m sure the experience & training he received in group settings also benefited his solo attempts. Should the Olympics make athletes distinguish themselves as either a group or solo competitor?
Well i didn’t said all group players are bitter about it, there were sesons whit no theme before and they were enjoyable. But there are some serious power creeps around.
I never said anything about SSF, what I was trying to say once you pick the solo or group leaderboard choice, then that should be it. Getting keys and running bounties could still be party played, it shouldn’t effect anything anyway, You can run T16 solo, in fact its faster that way. Bounties are not balanced, so until Blizz finds a better way to do bounties I see no issue with party bounties.
I like the idea of SSF,thats more a play mode then a theme though? Maybe add a gob that drops bounty mats to make bounties less grulling .
I just love for the dev to delay the change to follower for NS.
That will surely shut all of those whiner “season without a theme” up.
Instead, the dev is being the bigger man accepting all of them cry babies and just make everything available 1st day of update.
lol
I’m assuming you want a Solo LB where players can compete with other players who purely plays solo… Why not just ask for a SSF mode? Locking players from Solo LB cause they played in multipler LB seems weird. I mean i dont support your suggestion, but I would support the idea for a SSF mode in D3 which is pretty much the same thing. And I’m aware current Solo GR LB isint true solo cause you can earn more from playing in group and use that to run a Solo GR. But I would like to continue to see how my character would do in a Solo GR while participating in multiplayer GR at the same time.
It is never about group vs solo player. It is just that S23 doesn’t have a theme to play or a reason to stick on the season after you completed Guardian. Sure that there will be some people will stick to the season till end but you can safely assume that most of the S23 players will either went back to non-season or play other games once they completed the S23 Guardian.
then you are very much wrong.
That is simply because the game is so badly balanced that group gives such a massive advantage [over solo play] that you’ll abuse that to get higher…
Nerf solo. Buff groups!!
Group play belongs in WoW.
Diablo solo is best played.
This is why D4 will be an MMO if groupies get their way.
i dont think asking for a season theme to keep the game fresh is = i hate that solo players got a follower buff like its almost a little pitty to try and make that assumption. Not to mention a season theme also benefits solo players so like why try to start a solo vs group fight over the season theme when that has nothing to do with it?
well the first few times the “i get to relevel” can kinda be a theme but remember that there was season legendary exclusives in the beginning effectivetly being a season theme
Any one can make claims they don’t have the data for.
Congratulations! You managed to repeat the same thing I said while inserting the toxic victim complex that says someone playing to established game mechanics = “AbUsE!!!”
