I was thinking about what emanate items/build is best. Is there something better?

Ultimately, one needs 2 Cains and 2 Sage items.
Pretty much, but most of them work outside of GRs. Nems is a special case since it tends to spawn spinning elites that oneshot some builds.
There are stuff that don’t emanate but work better, like occulus ring, or some attack speed items (mempo of twilight, withcing hour, talrasha chest) to proc stuff more frequently and ice climbers seem pretty decent on them in grs to not get frozen.

I went with the Spaulders as I had a set sat in the Stash already. As they’re the ones that means your gear never takes damage, doesn’t this mean if you die repeatedly in a GR, your gear won’t end up broken?

Honestly, besides season start I really don’t see a need for Sage’s (as when you effectively farm TXVI and pick up all DB’s that drop you will end up with more DB’s than other crafting materials anyway - at least that’s in my case, and I usually play solo). So, I probably will go with Cains.
I read something about “abusing” homepads by tapping Town Portal - and getting the shield/damage reduction from it.

You can equip both Cains and Sage with the ring of royal grandeur. If you do, there is a tradeoff in that you can only equip broken crown or your prefered gloves but not both.
I know, I still think I will go with Broken Crown (since gems are an issue at start of the season as well) and preferred gloves, probably without RORG (just to have the option to use Oculus/Unity).
