Solo boss mode s27 and beyond

Many in these forums complain about boss mode as a more or less mandatory conquest this season and I really don’t understand why since it’s one of the easiest ones. This time around I did it in 12 minutes but got lucky with three (Urzael, Adria, Diablo) of the four (Araneae) hard to find bosses, usually it takes 15-16 minutes max. Just copy this build and fish games until at least some of these 4 maps are bounties.

I use Whirlwind (not Whirlwind/Rend, unnecessary for T10 and you need the cube weapon power). Items:

  • 5 pieces wastes set
  • belt/pants crimson (cdr is essential, rcr also nice to have to spam sprint)
  • bul kathos weapons (speed, fury regen)
  • bracers: warzechians
  • jewelry: whatever amulet, ORotZ, skull grasp (otherwise bosses take too long to kill with just whirlwind) - can’t fit rachel ring
  • cube: messerschmidt (most important piece and reason we don’t take rend, you need to continuously reset your cooldowns), chilanik belt, RoRG
  • gems: wreath, boon of hoarder, trapped
  • follower: enchantress for cdr, she need avarice

Skills: whirlwind (blood funnel, don’t need extra fury), sprint (marathon), WotB (insanity), Ignore pain (bravado), Battle rage (ferocity), War cry (veteran)

Passives: pound of flesh, weapon master, rampage, ruthless

Just spam all the time all your skills. War cry, WotB and ignore pain will continuously reset and you’ll have no issues with fury and sprint. I just can’t see how anyone can fail soloing boss mode with this build. Have fun

A few tips.

It maybe obvious, but. Do not be greedy & pick u gems, DB, open boss stashes, kill Goblins.

The timer start immediately when game start!!

Use the map to teleport directly to the next boss area (do not teleport to town & use the portal in town) . This will shave easily 30sec to 1min or so.

YOU DO NOT need to kill Vidinic (or whoever he is called in act 2

Set to Skip cutscenes in the UI.

Micheal (Act 5) Always go Left to the portal (its always clockwise) from WP.

I just did it today with 3 minutes to spare with my Tal Rasha Wizard. Put Aether Walker in the cube, set teleport to wormhole, teleport spam.

I did it with Barb WW and crapy gear with 2 minutes to spare using standard WW Rend build but with Warzechian Armguards for bracers and Messerschmidt’s Reaver in cube. Also added Sprint Marathon as one of the skills. I would have finished sooner but took a wrong turn looking for a few bosses.

generally, you can use your Bounty build, & add more speed, at expense of power, since its T10 solo, so you do not need that much power.

Some nice to have speed gears
Green buff belt
Waszeichain Armguards
Any passive that boost speed (every class should have one)
Skills /Skill runes that grant some speed boost
Actiace Band +BotH gem combo (make sure level 50)

Don’t watch Youtube/Netflix/twitch etc on your alt screen. Focus 100%

Make mental note (or cross on a paper) which bosses done. easy is to do in act order, Act 1 to 5. You can waste time looking though all maps & panicing of that one boss you missed!

If you done correctly, you will get a BOSS MODE pop up. If it doesn’t you missed some boss(s)!

If you prepare well, its 50% of the job done already,

Its doable, if you focus. Its a very nice feeling when you get it done. It can be challenging, and intimidating, but it also make the sense of acccomphment feels good.

After you done this, you will see improvement in your Bounties runs.

Boss Mode is the most easiest conquest to clear. I cleared it solo in every season that has that conquest.

Just use speed build and don’t be greedy.

I suspect the thrill is now easiest.

This Conquest is infinitely easier on PC where every player splits off and hunts down different bosses. On console, in couch co-op, it is a little harder… not impossible, as I’ve done it once, but not exactly pleasant either. All the speed challenges are not exciting and really prove nothing given that there are other similar ones like “Kill XXX in under 30 seconds.”

Not liking something does not equate to it being hard or difficult.

Pretty much. The ppl who struggle this one is the same ppl u dont want to see in public bounty runs.

I been using god with echoing fury. Even if i pick up gems, db etc i still got plenty of time to spare. Its rly that ez.

Yeah, but how would I keep up with the Kardashians if I don’t?

Yeah… clearing GR45 without any set items is dirt simple. Even in HC it doesn’t take much effort. Rank your LoD as high as you can with your set gear. Then pick any LoD build for your class and waltz thru a season conquest.

The 50 million gold is just about as easy, just rank Boon of the Hoarder to 50 and take a Bovine Bardiche and run the cow level.

The only problem with Boss mode is it forces you to learn all the map variants so you can run them quickly. If you’re lucky the game gives you markers to Adria and a few others but once you learn what the starting area looks like you can find them all pretty easily.

Especially when you can clear it at T10. So it is never about extreme killing power but speed. :+1

Is this really true though?

If you have any decent speed, you should be able to clear the maps, regardless of the layout. As others have mentioned above though, a lot of the failures are due to people having damage builds, not speed builds.

I guess that’s been my main pet peeve with the community lately. That there have been complaints that challenges are too hard, but they refuse to change to builds that are better designed for certain challenges.

You can waste 2 minutes even with a fast build hunting aimlessly for Adria, Aracnea, and a few others. For example there is at least one layout for Ghom that has several dead ends you need to avoid even if he’s the map marker.

But you still need the right build and I contend the right knowledge to complete the Boss run in less than 20m. I just did with my HC DH with the Shadow Impale build. The only change I made from my farming set was to change to the passive Ambush to the one that gives 60% speed boost after vaulting. Really makes running those long corridors to bosses like Diablo much quicker.

It’s funny reading about how some people are still under the impression that Boss Mode is hard to do solo. It was when it was first introduced. I remember doing it solo with a UE DH, and I failed the first couple of times before completing it with only seconds to spare, according to my timer.

Now, just like with so many buffs, there are many speed builds you can use that make this conquest a literal walk in the park. I used a standard farming GoD build, including a rank 50 BotH gem, and can usually complete it in about 16 minutes, which usually included going the wrong way a few times. So really, there is plenty of time even if you have difficulty finding Adria or Urzael. Covering the entire maps of those two shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

No need for specialized builds, or starting off with certain bosses, or remaking the game until you have certain bosses as bounties. All that does is waste time.

There is, of course, also the probability that some find the challenge to be less than fun and a chore more than anything. Great, I get to do yet another speed run… don’t I do enough of those in NR, GR, and bounties? I get the privilege of testing myself yet again but killing bosses… yeah, yay.

I can do that any day.

Conquests should actually be something. Something one does not ordinarily do.

like beating them in 20mins?

Since it’s a topic I figured I’d give it a shot myself, using an Unhallowed Essence DH build. I can do easy speed farming rifts in ~2 minutes, for reference.

I went to the trouble of restarting until I had an Adria quest but did no other finagling.

First try Adria went kind of slow, then on Urzael I think I took every wrong turn, did Malthael, Skeleton King, hit another loop with the Butcher, and then I got to Arenae and hit every wrong turn again. I was at 10 minutes and called it quits.

Second run even with the quest markers I still managed to get into a loop with Adria, but after that things settled in and went pretty straightforwardly, other than I wasn’t keeping great track of the acts and bosses and ended up bouncing back and forth a bit more than I should have. At 4 minutes left I thought I still hadn’t done any of Act 3, but it turns out I just had Ghom left, and was startled when the Boss Mode alert popped up with about 1:50 to go on my stopwatch.

I’d say I was pretty intently focused and trying to go fast. I didn’t pick up anything, except for when I thought something said “consumable” (I don’t have any Ram’s gifts on hand). Obviously I could have taken a few seconds to grab some death’s breaths and there was one gem goblin I regret passing by. On the other hand, until it was over I didn’t trust that I wouldn’t hit another snag.

Thinking about it now, I realize at the very least I should have put on Krelm’s Buff Belt, but I forgot about that.

My conclusion: doable, but not trivial. Be focused and speedy. Get the hard ones out of the way first and bail if things go badly.

You mean like clear a GR75, level 3 gems to 65, do a GR45 with a LOD build, do a TX+ rift in under 2 minutes.

(heavy sarcasm on)
People should really stop spending all season trying to kill all bosses in 20 minutes and maybe give the 4 challenges listed above a try once in a while.

UE is doable for Boss Mode. That was what I used for my first go at it many seasons ago. But it is far from ideal. Both Shadow Impale and especially GoD are much faster. Of the two, GoD is much easier to use.
