Solo and bounties

The follower update and emanate is a really nice improvement!

While reworking followers and finally improving solo play, please take bounties into account too.

We have 3 followers.
We have our character.

For the purpose of doing bounties, let the followes autonomously do bounties, including picking up stuff like legendaries, DBs, gems.
(Those could appear in your own characters inventory).

Then, after a short while, you can get the caches and be done almost as fast as group bounties.

Followers would need to be strong enough so have LoD or LoN work on them would be great.
(With cains and sage as an exception to the no set bonuses rule, these should be exempt anyways also for your char).

This would close the gap between group play and solo play a bit more.

Perhaps the xp stats can be restored to its fullest when used on follower (at level 70). Benefitting you more.

Followers aren’t bots. Get frikkin real.

That would require a complete rework of the follower’s AI and given the current resources the Diablo III development team has, I highly doubt they’ll do that.

Totally agree. Just one step closer to Blizzard bots. I can go afk and come back with tons of caches!

Personally, I’d rather see more bounty mats if they are done solo.

I’d rather no autonomy, but a tripling of rewards from bounties. I don’t mind going through the motions to get my rewards, but the gap between solo and group play is just way too large, especially given how much it costs to reforge equipment.

Why not have them do your rifts for you too? Or how about an app for our phones that allows us to remotely command them to play the game for us; we wouldn’t even have to login.

Just hire some other players, probably a 4-man group, to go get you stuff. Some will even be nice and carry you along. Or so I’ve heard.

Followers are followers. They are not autonomous.

They should just have bounties start at 3 per act, and increase to 5 per act max so that 4 man groups are not affected, but solo players get 10 less bounties to run.

The issue with this is people joining and leaving games, so not exactly sure how to code it.

Bounties are so easy to do though, I don’t see the problem.

If you choose to solo, like I do, you accept that grouped players have an easier time of just about everything. Don’t like it, don’t solo.

Or just run public bounties for mats after the first week of season.

Or another option: every monster within a given act can drop some amount of mats from that act, but maybe have to be unlocked in some fashion not unlike Death’s Breath but harder. That way, whenever and wherever you encounter them, you have a chance to get stuff.

Naturally, this makes it harder to keep “equal volume” especially in a rift where monsters from any act seem to appear.
