It’s not 100% representative but you should be able to accurately know if you’re gonna like a game or not the vast majority of the time.
If it has terrible gameplay is something that should come across in the video.
It also seems better than any alternative which would seemingly involve either just throwing money at things simply to see if you like it, or basing it entirely off somebody else’s opinion.
obviously, so you rather see gameplay. reviews. and claim this is a better check than actually playing the game?
because you can’t finish the game?
I mean do you expect them to let you play the whole experience for free, why would you buy it later?
There’s an open beta in this case which will help and I’ll play it, but if one wants to figure out what endgame is like that’s gonna require a bit more.
Though in general for games the vast majority of the time I can figure out if I’m gonna like a game or not based on watching raw gameplay. I know the sorts of the things that are gonna make the game unplayable to be before I’ve touched the game.
It won’t. Personally I would’ve preferred another beta similar to the endgame beta (I got lucky and was able experience it), just to see how much feedback was put into the game. That said, I personally seen enough of D4 to know that I’ll be getting it (as the good outweigh the bad imo). Of course, I’ve no intention of pre-purchasing, as I no longer pre-purchase games in general.
I said no such things. I just said that the beta wont really tell much about the game.
Reviews also wont, since those rarely dabble into endgame.
Gameplay videos might say something, but those will take time to arrive for endgame.
I am saying that I certainly want more endgame information first.
I dont really like the modern focus on videos/youtube/whatever. Some good blog posts about endgame design, and maybe even more important, design intentions, would go a long way for me.
I was quite hyped about Diablo 4. Until Blizzard started to talk more and more about the game, killing all hype, with their design choices
Anyway, even if you are hyped about a game, it makes sense to wait.
Heck, one might argue, the more hyped you are, the more reason to wait, as you might have become blind to the issues.
There are few games I’m 100% certain I’m buying before they come out and I have all the information I want on them.
In general I’m fairly resistant to it. There are plenty of things I’m interested in, but only a handful of things that’ll get me really hyped up.
For Diablo 4 I’m interested but not hyped. I’m honestly not expecting to consider it a 10/10 amazing game. It’ll probably be fun enough for what it is, though.
For me that’s mostly going to come down to “Is it worth tearing myself away from the other games I want to play this year?”
I’m still playing Fire Emblem Engage(this I was hyped for but FE is one of my favourite series and it hasn’t really ever disappointed me). I’ve got Resident Evil 4 coming soon, then Jedi: Survivor closer to D4’s release date and Baldur’s Gate 3 not long after. My friend is interested in Wayfinder so we’ll probably play that for a bit.
Not much releasing around the same time as Diablo 4 that I care about. Well, FF16 is pretty much launching at the same time, but I sadly expect it to be terrible.
BG3 in august though, yeah, D4 stands no chance against that for me.
Late summer seems packed with potentially interesting games actually.
I guess the release of Starfield is still unknown, but I cant imagine it releases anywhere near to that. That gam definitely is also a “wait and see” type of game, considering how bugged Bethesda games often are at release, but if it had released at the same time as D4, I likely would end up choosing that.
The big one for me is probably Last Epoch, since it so directly competes with Diablo 4 on the type of gameplay it offers. But I assume the devs will wait a while before they release, specifically to avoid going up directly against D4. Late in the year maybe. Given the limited information I have about D4 and Last Epoch however, LE seems significantly better so far.
I haven’t. I’ve lost all faith with Blizzard and anything they’re able to produce now.
Diablo was my main squeeze most of my life, and I’m slowly watching them drag it down with a death roll. Every step in the wrong direction it seems.
D4 is just Lost ark with diablo textures.
First Diablo ever I may not (probably will) play. Very sad.
I was going to pre-order until I realized paid cosmetics would degrade legendary cosmetics to standard cosmetics and there would be nothing iconic about this game. Paid cosmetics are the new legendary cosmetics. There’s nothing fun about that.
For me, I’m not curious enough to warrant the pre-purchase. Instead, I’ll let others dive in and make a decision based on their feedback. And as you said, it’s not like I’m going to pay a penalty fee for not pre-ordering, so why put my money down on a product I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy?
