See subject. I’m getting tired of listening to Tyrael and his upset stomach in D3…
A year at least
And did Tyrael have chipotle last night:
Diablo Immortal (a freaking smartphone game) was announced at Blizzcon 2018 and we still not getting any decent info about the game until today, which marked 2 years+ long.
Diablo 4 is AAA game, so if they are unable to release a smartphone game after 2 years, what makes you think that D4 will be coming out soon? Even the quarterly report gave the vibe that they are still at early development stage.
I won’t be surprised if D4 will be released at 2026 at this rate.
The later the better… I hope they use the time to prep things right, not just visually but first and foremost = in conceptual manner
They promised us a good quarterly update #4, and it’s gonna have useful topics/information, so patience, a storm is coming our way
No one knows, however I wouldn’t expect for quite some time.
Careful, there may be an npc who complains about their foot every five minutes in Diablo 4.
Since when did Tyrael have an upset stomach
Expect the end of 2022 at the earliest. More reasonable is mid to late 2023 for launch. If that
If so, they need to stop waste time on last gen (xbox one, ps4) support.
I’m thinking at least 2 years out still.
You can disable voices in your sound options.
Even 2022 is pushing it, I’d expect 2023 at earliest.
Remember that D3 took about 4 years from announcement to release. That should give some hint about the general timetable. D4 is still in very early stages of development and we also still only know 3 of 5 classes the game will have at release.
That was then, this is now, technology has improved, they have been working on it for years now. I really hope that it is released before I am dead. Beta by the end of next year would be great. If they started development in 2016 it should not take 7 years for Blizzard to make a game.
Maybe the other two will be announced at Blizzconline if February.

It’s a bummer we can’t see each other in-person, but there is lots to talk about! Looking forward to everyone tuning in and joining in on the festivities.
Go play something else then.
The game has been in production for at least 7 years counting concepting and engine building. Even though this current iteration started around 2016 after they nixed the 3rd person souls like version, those assets could have been easily ben used for this current version.
I would not be surprised if limited/alpha testing starts after the Blizzconline. I still stand by my holiday 2021 late Q4 early Q1 release as the most optimistic. Realistic summer 2022, late Q2 early Q3 releases. Pessimistic holiday 2022, late Q4 early Q1.
The later the better, the last thing we want is a rushed game bc deadline.
That’s what happened w D3 w/o debate.
A way better game a year later is better than a not fun game, unfixable by just patches, a year earlier.
Yes?
Yes exactly. All the people being super pessimistic about D4 launching 2+ years from now are just jaded because of the infamous D3 launch disaster. D3 was SUPPOSED to come out just over 2 years after announcements. But had multiple 6+ month delays that made it to a whopping 4 years.
The D4 dev team has announced previously that COVID-19 has not pushed back any dates since they can easily work from home. UNLESS D4 hits the same insane delays and issues, its projected to be released Q4 2021 or early 2022.
- D4 may never be released.
- Best possible release date is two years from now at earliest.
- pandamic is getting worse in USA.
Hopefully the entire Diablo workforce is following strict protocol’s.
That’s unlikely, a TPS has very different needs than an isometric game.
Also, D3 had a previous dropped version too that started in 2001. Meaning this game would have taken 11 years to see the light of day… not a very optimistic prospect for D4. ^^
I think it’s safe to assume that D4 development started 4 years ago, not 6 (nor 7, Hades began in 2014), the same way D3 started in 2006 even though Blizzard had another version in the works.
Yes, though the same can be said about D3, which was anounced with only 2 classes. The demo at Blizzcon 2008 featured a third class, exactly the same as D4 in 2019. I don’t think D3 was more advanced at reveal, which makes mi-2023 a credible borderline for a release window.
Never heard of that.
D3 was not that much of an exception either. StarCraft 2 and WoW had over 3 years between anouncement and release, almost 3 years for WarCraft 3.
After D3 Blizzard decided to hold their anouncements until games were closer to completion, but, as we all know, they showed D4 earlier than anticipated. Meaning it’s very unlikely we’ll see it before 2022.
And that assumed that the higher up won’t keep moving the staffs from the D4 team to their beloved WoW development team, resulting slower D4 development because lack of manpower.
They already got David Kim (former D4 team) to WoW Team.
A) They should headhunt the guy that design the Last epoch skill trees to D4 with a big S Money offer.
B) Drop Xbox One & PS4 support
C) follow Fornite seasonal format, where the story was told one season to another (like TV series), with the story as well as areas changing through the season. Getting player excited what will happen next.
