So macro's are ok to use?

How is a simple AHK script with 1 key press - 1 action a 3rd party addon?

This is something you can do in-game thus WHAT exactly is it adding?

Macros are cheat.
Bots are cheat.
Maphack is cheat.
Exploits are cheat.
Will you get banned from game? No. Blizzard does nothing.

The Num Lock trick DOES work on the Mac, per a quick search on Google.

Well to be fair, AHK is a third party application.

Numlock isn’t.

@TheTias, what’s your opinion on numlock? Or do you feel it’s the same as a macro program like AHK?

Personally, numlock okay, any third party macro programs - even if it emulates numlock - not okay.

Well, your mouse driver is a 3rd party too, but I suppose you use one?

Addon simply means something that gives you more options in-game, such that are not designed to be in-game.

A simple AHK script is totally fine, it’s not an addon.

The mouse is part of the intended gaming experience. (by extension the drivers).

Whereas AHK alone is okay without interaction with D3, once it is programmed to do things in D3, it was never considered part of the intended gaming experience. Not endorsed, released, recommended, or referred to for installation.

Numlock again is an exploit. Most exploits at this point are frowned upon for being 1) exposed 3) taught 3) used. And finally exploits are patched. This has not happened for numlock for the life of the game.

While numlock is technically a “gray” area, it sits in a better position than AHK.

I would consider AHK macro’s, mouse macro programs, etc all within target for possible banning permanent or otherwise.

Numlock not so much.

1 key press - 1 action is the intended gaming experience.

AHK complying with this rule is not against the rules since it doesn’t add anything extraordinary.

It would be considered an addon if you write a more advanced script.

The way it works is it triggers the key stroke when its off cd… its NOT USING 1 KEY TO TRIGGER THREE EFFECTS LOL.

It’s still a 3rd party add on which makes it a step above numlock, and again numlock has inherent problems with certain skills and input.

Out of the two, which in your opinion has a higher chance of being actioned against?

It may be low for both.

The same for both?
Ahk higher than numlock?
Numlock higher than Ahk?

And why?

That’s the numlock trick and its allowed because Blizzard’s policy is one button press per action, which is the case when it comes to numlocking. What isn’t ok is setting a single macro that triggers multiple actions.

Numlock is not a macro or a third party add-on. PERIOD! Read what Blizzard posted and stop trying to make up stuff LOL. Many people use it as they do not want to wear out their keyboard etc lol. In addition there are players that have physical issues that will not permit them from pressing a button over and over. I even know a player that is an amputee (left arm he lost in Iraq) that uses Numlock! Numlock is a part part of the vast majority of computer keyboards!! Blizzard knows this. If they did not want to allow numlock to be used it would be effortless for them to block it from being used. Nuff said

Well if one has an expensive mouse and KB (like a corsair) you can have macros that are not addons like in WoW. So RUN if you don’t want to use macros don’t. But to me pressing a mouse button to execute keystroke 3 and 4 is NOT so bad. Especially if those key stroke commands are only needed every 20 seconds or so.

yah the program is called windows.

wow bruh, just wow

BlockquoteI would consider AHK macro’s, mouse macro programs, etc all within target for possible banning permanent or otherwise.

And Phatty, just how is Blizzard suppose to know that one is using a programmable mouse or keyboard? It’s almost the same thing as AHK and believe me, it is not detectable at the server side. And Blizzard putting a keystroke detector on our clients is illegal. As far as numlock is concerned if Blizzard hasn’t done anything about it then one might safely assume they don’t see a problem. Moreover, NUMLOCK is only good, IMO, for certain actions belonging to certain classes.

You can only have 6 skills in the game and some players simply cannot be bothered to actually juggle those and have to have their keyboard automate the process.

i got necro trolled.
good one dude  :+1:t4:

If I want to program a mouse button to press keys 3 and 4 (shadow power and vengeance) I don’t see where that is so offensive to you Metro. I’m a 76 year old grandma and I just cleared a 115 GR without having to finger jump from key 1 to keys 3 and 4. Some of us aren’t as nimble as you are.
