Some people have to buy new accounts every season. So they still make some money on the game.
Sadly not enough to warrant an investment on their part to this title.
At one side they have some botters buying a couple of copies, at the other hand they have a few rich businessmen and whales tossing money at a screen to fuel the entire development cycle for years. So, every cent they make from Diablo 3 by sales of new copies in bulk, they make a dollar from the monetization of Diablo 4 or Diablo Immortal. That’s the ratio you are looking at, for a comparison.

You know what ALSO released in June? The original Diablo 2.
It’s not about celebrating the birth dates of the individual titles. It’s about trying to get people to log into the games that have cash shops. Which just happens to be IV and Immoral.
Not that this is a shocking revelation to anyone with a modicum of common sense. But it’s rather disingenuous to defend Blizz’s use of psychological manipulation for attempted profit on grounds of “they just want to literally follow chronological events!”
You mean one where all gobs only drop lvl 60 items, just like in D4?
